Hello and goodbye and thank you to everyone of you! I wasn't there much the last couple of weeks because life was crazily busy and I'm actually not even sad the season's ending now because at least I won't be feeling like I'm missing out on something.
All through the season really I couldn't watch as much as I would've liked - which is probably part of the reason why I'm feeling like it wasn't such a great one. Krafti was impressive, very happy for Andi, impressive "comeback" from Pero at the tail end of the season, happy for happy Johann, really really surprised by and happy for Daniel Huber - lots of great things happened but still I'm feeling a bit 'meh' about the season overall and can't even put a finger on why exactly.
A couple words on the Germans: I still have no explanation for why almost the whole team (bar Andi) seemed to completely lose their form after the first third (???) of the season. They started well, with podiums for Pius and Karle, and then they just dropped and dropped and dropped. Only Andi kept going until he was starting to lose steam as well in the last couple of weeks. If you ask me, these things are down to the coach and (not even mentioning the way Horngacher treated and spoke about Eisei) - I think it's time for a new coach for team Germany. And if I may: I'd like Alex Stöckl, please.
Anyway: It was great spending the season with you guys (when I had time to watch and be online) - thank you to every single one of you who shared pics and gifs and videos and information, shared happiness and sadness (and rage over FIS or wind or others), reblogged and liked and simply was part of this wonderful ski jumping community on here. Thank you and have a great off-season - I for one am already looking forward to the next one!!!
Apparently, Silje and Eirin won't be competing in Planica in protest because the men get to fly and they don't. I mean, I kinda get that they're replacing Rasnov with a normal hill comp but I also totally understand if the women are simply fed up with being treated differently than the men.
Just coming on to say there's probably no competition I regret not watching more than today's. Karl with a hill record after what seemed like ages if not making the final round and a QUADRUPLE Austrian win.
