Earth Day: Believe it or not, Science is and will always be Political
I know I may have talked about this before but considering 'Earth Day', the one day where we reluctantly thank mother earth for being the incubator (if there happens to be a hereafter) for survival of our mere lives here. We need to understand how science works, that ideally science is free of influence of an opinion, or is an object of knowledge that is free from impactful nodes of politics, ideologies and actions with corporations' vested interests, that discourse of science is solely and wholly based on 'facts' that hold true regardless of what you think or the book you follow thinks or what your conservative science teacher tells or what your capitalist masterminds operating as state say. Science is Science. It doesn't know anything else. But, This is not true.
Race eugenics was once a science: Its only due to the Darwanian 'Survival of the fittest' that the superior, more fibrous, more intellectual white Anglo-Saxon brains are better at adapting to Earth than inferior Black/Brown counterparts, that it is okay to cleanse them off because Earthly resources are limited and nature wants only the fittest to progress with her changing dynamics. Robert Knox. as a scientist proved how important is for European rats, plants and (of course) humans to colonize foreign lands with those vulnerable populations, to exterminate the brutes so the nation-states of Europe can grow.
Homosexuality was once an abnormality: Enough scientific papers published that clearly settled the phenomenon as abnormality, as deviation from known mammal behavior, as a disease that needed therapy sessions very intense so much so the culprit is cured. So was the American policies till 1960s second wave feminism or let me remind you of 1850 British law, Section 377 that state homosexuality as 'unnatural offence' ignoring 1500+ species in nature with not-so-heteronormative culture.
Climate Change is a hoax: This is no controversy that globalism has become more infamous than ever. The world is swiftly taking the shift towards right, and so is science because eh, has science ever been an independent institution? Realization of Anthropocene is a direct threat to the house of cards the political establishments have created, that caring too much about nature will undermine the capitalist interest and the subsequent politics of states.
You do not need to believe in everything you are told about science. Science doesn't create facts, just theories with some solid supporting observable evidences.
It is now more than ever so necessary to fight for nature in the age of anthropocene, how dirty, how political it has to go for it because it is okay. It is okay because science has always been political and it will always be.

Movie: Rich Boy Bullies of the Whitest World
Tumblr media
Thinly veiled version of Oxford University's famous officially unrecognized fraternity, Bullingdon club is the 'Riot Club' set in very contemporary times, narrates stories of the current British aristocrats of the then Royal Kingdom, and how nostalgia still feeds the genuine respect of the the finest Anglo-Saxon cis Irish men in post modern world.
It does not come by as a surprise that many alumni of the club have today made a part of British political establishment: David Cameron and his almost recent scandal of sticking his penis in a dead pig's mouth is very much linked to this club of wealthy, corrupt, spoiled boys of the british elite. Many other including Boris Johnsan (the 2008 mayor of London) and Cecil Rhodes, prime minister of Cape Colony (till 1896) have been part of this exclusive membership.
During its annual dinner, the club has a tradition of burning 50 pound notes in front of the poorest proletariat, proceeding to a nearby restaurant, destroying every matter that holds physical existence in the vicinity and then paying the restaurant owners on-the-spot in cash. There have also been reported instances of rape and murder by drunk oxford student elites. Welcome to the classy British Utopia, with beautiful accent, sexy people and a cherished history of designed global inequality.
