I'm iffy about character ai for other reasons-
I know some kids use it as like, a therapist equilivent and you KNOW everything that's sent has a possibility of being released or being incorporated into a larger training model. That data isnt safe.
The team behind it allow chatbots of real people. There is an Elon Musk chatbot that was on the recommended page for months. Issues like that.
From here forward refered to as Large Language Model, or LLM, because 'ai' is SO much more than these programs deserve. They are glorified statistical output machines.
Think about it like this. With LLMs, the training set is so incredibly massive. And in terms of what they were trained on it's somewhat less problematic than Text-To-Image Models.
According to a technical write up on gpt-3, which is the iteration of the gpt LLM before gpt-4, was trained on The Common Crawl (the internet scrapes that took place 2020-2021), Wikipedia, and Webtext.
Its possible to assume with gpt-4 they may have included out of copyright books, but this is not mentioned in any papers that i have read, as gpt-4s training data has not been released or stated publically.
Saying that it contributes to the train is like. Pouring a glass of water into the ocean then blaming yourself for the sea water rising.
It also worth noting that nowhere in the Terms of Service of c.ai does it actually say they are using inputted data by users to train their chatbot further, which is fascinating actually, as that I feel like would count as sensitive data. Theyre not selling it in the very least back to openai to train the larger models.
Another thing of note on their TOS is that you retain the copyright of your inputs to the bot. Every message you send, or if you create a bot of your oc, the rights to this remain with you. With this in mind, it seems legally dubious if they were selling that data. But then again, the chatbots react to what you say with every message, so it is processed and incorporated into the system somehow - but even this does NOT mean it is submitted to the training data of the bot.
People have been using large language models to play around for fandom for years. Aidungeon was one of the more popular inital iterations of this, but I know I was messing around and making talktotransformer generate silly stupid Percy Jackson stuff in like. 2016.
Large Language Models are a complicated beast, and LLMs are a different beast than Text-To-Image models which are significantly more conplex. Seeing them held together is fascinating at times. Because it's the silicon valley confusion of lines and calling both of these things the same stupid undescriptive name of "ai" to mystify people.
LLMs are an advanced version of a phones predictive text. They statistically print the next word most likely to be in a sentence with variation based on the temperature variable. TTIs are like. Theyre so much more confusing but they use pixel diffusion to make blobs an then refine the blobs more and more and it's. It's a different thing. They're both called ai colloquially and it's. Frustratingly obtuse.
Anyway, long story short, c.ai is kinda fucked for many reasons. The data you input can be accessed by employees almost certainly, they have real people as ais, such as billionares and politicians. But inputted data, it's not, so far as I can tell, being sold back to open.ai to train the larger gpt models. Sorry this got very long LLMs fascinate me. I see so many bad uninformed posts that exist just to scare people.

Wait he's 27..... when I first read that I was like "yeah this sounds like the standard toxic ex from when you were twenty". But 27..... broo..
It's kinda wild to me. But then again I feel like this sort of toxic bullshit relationship with zero communication skills and the whole.. airing the relationship drama online is something you see alot. Or just in general.
I've seen more than a handful of "callout posts" through the years that boil down too "my ex was rude to me three times, here is a handful of discord screenshots, unfollow them" that read very similarly to this, although the stakes and what is leveraged against the people are entirely different by multitudes of severity. Instead of petty shit it's, actually severe abuse.
It's a whole goddamn thing. But the same level of, I don't know what the word would be? Perhaps immaturity?
Litterally everyone I've met with divorced parents (including myself) has had this sort of bullshit that happen between the parents, who are often in their 30s and 40s and 50s, so you know what I don't think age is a factor really.
Perhaps it's just "relationships are inherently messy, toxic ones moreso" and "trying to explain the ins and outs of your fucked up relationship to outsiders will never make any goddamn sense"
I guess this is what I've been thinking about over the last few weeks??? Litterally all of this is the same shit I hear my friends say about their parents fucked up marriage but exploded to an astronomical scale wherein there are hundreds of thousands of eyes zoomed in on this.
If Twitter got ahold my parents severely fucked up bullshit they wouldn't know how to hash out the drama either.
I don't know. This whole month has been crazy.
why is it that 27 year old punz is incapable of actually talking to anyone he has issues with like an adult and instead just airs out their shit without permission but beautie and snikrep (both 19) can resolve their issues in private just fine

I don't have the clip anymore (I could find it in my discord history if someone wants it) but there is more op. There is so much more to this.
The first time wilbur and quackity were going to team in minecraft monday, quackity wasn't certain he was going to be able to make it, so he told Wilbur to find a backup partner.
So Wilbur asked Phil to be his backup teammate, but Phil got so excited to be his team partner that even though Q could make the event, Wilbur teamed with Philza regardless, so Q ended up teaming with captainsparklez.
So if we interpret this as "in character" - Wilbur skipped out on teaming with quackity to do a tournament with his father. Instead of him.
Then the next time on their re-scheduled playing together *Quackity did not show*
Leading to this.
watching the vod where wilbur and quackity first interact on the dream smp, and im glad that quackity stood up wilbur at minecraft mondays. it really adds to the whole 'divorce' dynamic they got going on.
i think its also what really got c!wilbur to aggressively tell c!q he's not allowed in l'manburg, which then probably got c!q to run against him.
and then that spiralled into the manburg-pogtopia war, and then the entire dsmp lore. what a pipeline
