Andy Bean did such a good job turning the awkwardly grownup-like kid that Stanley was into an actual adult with every single move. The way his hands move meticulously across his puzzle, the way he says “why not? It’s summer” without looking up from his work, his bare feet in dress clothes, the way he gets down on the floor to pick up the puzzle piece he drops and then tucks it into his shirt pocket, like. Every single detail was just so perfect for Stanley and so enjoyable to watch even in it’s mundanity. His performance in and of itself makes Stanley’s absense among the rest of the losers through Chapter 2 such a tragedy. I would have loved to see it.
