It’s been a busy and productive week! This week I went down to Southampton for a property photoshoot and then on to Swanage to meet a client, view some properties and to see the sea!! So here are a few photos from Swanage - first trip to the beach in 2023! . We were so lucky - it was a warm day for Winter, and the afternoon light was fabulous - and the sun just popped out for a few seconds and picked up the cliffs on the other side of the bay beautifully! - fabulous! . Do you love to be near the sea? I do - and get a yearning to go back again every few weeks or months - it’s not always practical but I go as often as I can! And which bits did not go so well, were not your favourites? Reviewing your gone wells and not quite so gone wells over the past year can help us see what we want more of in the future, and what things happened that are worth learning from, and which things it is now time to let go of. Doing this then helps us to create our hopes, dreams and goals for the year ahead. I love to travel so after a very hectic 2022, and during the slightly quieter photography time here in the UK, I’ll be off photographing in various destinations abroad for a few weeks. Yup that’s me a very long time ago, I think I was about 17 years old and trying out a bit of creative photography with the mirror in my sisters bedroom, in London, where we grew up. . I can remember thinking; that it would be fun to capture me taking a photo of me taking a photo in the mirror, but I also remember being a little disappointed with the quality and graininess and pinky colouring of the result. But I was just using my Kodak extra pocket film camera! . This Ektra camera was a fun instamatic camera, but literally you just pointed and pressed the button - there was very little way of changing the amount of light coming in to the camera or anything else. . But it was about this time in my life that I realised I wanted to do more photography and with a camera that let me be more creative. . And that’s how it all stated! . How about you? What are you thankful for today? I start each day thinking about the things I am grateful for - it starts the day with such a lovely positive mindset! I can highly recommend it! . Today I am thankful for friends and family and for my dad being born in America which meant that on the last Thursday in November, we used to cook Turkey and Corn Bread and Sweet Potato for Thanksgiving, when the rest of the UK was gearing up for Christmas! . And I am thankful for so much this year - in my home life, and in my work and in my business - I have met so many fabulous people and been honoured to capture their photographs - yes I do feel it is an honour to be part of people's journey and transformation - I get to see and capture so much through the eye of the camera. . So I guess most of all I am very thankful that I was able to make some choices a few years ago (over 9 years ago now!) which resulted in me now running a successful Personal Branding and Business photography service and I love every minute of it.. `How are you? It was so lovely to spend a day with my lovely son Frankie, and his fabulous partner Alice, recently - of course, as we were walking through this lush orchard field, I had to capture a quick photograph of them together in the warm, late afternoon sunshine and of course Floss decided she’d like to be in the shot too! I love photographing my personal brand and headshot clients to help them with their marketing and sales by becoming more visible in their business, but it’s always such a treat to be photographing my own family whenever I can! . Did you get caught in that rain yesterday?! . This was a local headshot and brand photoshoot - if there’s a zebra crossing I’ll try capture a photo there - but usually have to be very quick so we don’t hold back the traffic! . How was your week? How are you feeling? Lots going on here as well as being respectful of the nations mourning and saddened by the loss of our Queen How about you? Have you been affected by the Queen’s passing? I can fully understand how this can open up feelings about our own losses and grieving - for me, when I used to see the Queen on tv, it somehow helped me imagine what my own mother would have been like, had she lived a little longer, which I found comforting and helped soften that loss a little. I have not joined the queue in London, but whilst I’ve been editing / doing some admin work, in the background I’ve watched some of the people quietly filing past, on the broadcast. It’s strangely therapeutic, rhythmic shuffle and pause, shuffle and pause, quiet, and I feel that those that have managed to get there, are each person representing themselves but also representing so many of us that can’t go.
