Sometimes you get bad scores on an evaluation and you have to just shrug it off. Life goes on. I am not going to take on any more stress than is necessary this year.

It’s been a rough week. On top of the normal crazy behaviors going on in my classroom, found out since I don’t qualify for FMLA, I can only take 6 weeks off when I deliver in Feb. Seriously seriously bummed out. How am I gonna leave my itty bitty in daycare at 6 weeks?

When a 4-year old punches you in the arm because you asked him to raise his hand if he wanted a cheese stick.

This was a McDonald's fries twice in one day kinda day. Trying to remain grateful though...1) another teacher gave me like 50 books for my classroom library & 2) my new fancy pregnancy pillow came in today 🙌🏽

Current state of my classroom, at least they put the furniture together for me. (Anything that is on the walls belongs to the teacher before me who still has all her things in here as well)

Here we go again...

I just finished my on-boarding paperwork to start teaching again--same city, same district, same grade level, same demographics, DIFFERENT school (thank you thank you thank you). I took the past school year off to try out something new in the design & tech realm...but life has somehow brought me back around to teaching. Teachers go back on Monday and kiddos start the day after Labor Day. Let’s do this thing.

Last week students started chanting ‘build the wall’ in the lunchroom of a local middle school. Some of the Hispanic children started crying. If you’re the principal– how are you supposed to stop that behavior? If the president can behave in a certain way, how are you supposed to tell a child that it’s unacceptable? How does that hold up? It breaks my heart. I’ve had friends reach out to me. They’ve told me: ‘I understand the reasons that you’re upset. But those aren’t the reasons I voted for him.’ And I’m just starting to understand that. I’m realizing that a lot of people wanted change more than they wanted kids not to cry. We all have our own code of ethics. My bottom line happened to be tolerance. Their bottom line was abortion. Or the Supreme Court. I guess we all have the right to choose our own bottom line.“

last night/this morning was thinking about my water intake and realizing I’ve been TERRIBLE at drinking water lately. thinking that might have something to do with my face looking like the red spot of Jupiter in 80 places.

so, this morning I had a glass of water. and then drank a camelback of water.

and now, #educhum Ashley is remembering why #fitblr Ashley never drinks water.

Sometimes....

No matter what you do to try and resolve an issue, the other person can't let it go and will make you pay for it (even if they are equally or more responsible for the issue). Gotta stay positive and focused. Mistakes happen, make amends, change your behavior, and move forward.

We were having a discussion about pumpkins in our classroom and using our 5 senses... Me: Who can tell me what body part we use to feel? Yes, K? K: your heart! Seriously, that kid....

This makes me so happy.

Fashionable Teacher Week, Tuesday: oldest My mom bought me this jean jacket for my birthday the summer before 7th grade from GAP kids. I have kept it all these years and it still fits and is in great shape. It is literally 18 years old! My jean jacket could be a college freshman. 😳😂
