i also need a Moment to get misty over how the very, very last 8-ball of tour/2ourdust.....was wilson. a song from mania, fall out boy's unfavored child. the folie of their posthiatus era, a deeply divisive record, the record born from strife. i became such a strange shape from trying to fit in, in a tour that celebrates being unabashedly weird. i hope the roof flies off and we all get blown out into space so we sail out into the cosmos and we land among all the (so much for) stardust. i know it's just the number, but you're the 8th wonder - stardust, their 8th record.
the first 8-ball was ginsafs at wrigley. wilson was the last. it's a strange way of saying that i know i'm supposed to love you and there's nothing more cruel than to be loved by everybody but you.
i don't know. there's a symmetry to it. im so glad the final 8-ball of this tour was from mania. a tip of the hat to her, because she deserves it.

march was genuinely such a wild month that 1. upped my confidence in my capacity to quickly learn music when it is made by folks whose stuff i am truly passionate about and 2. reinforced the idea that live music & my love for it is truly the primary catalyst that fuels said passion of mine for tunes....
what do you mean i didn't know Any boom done/solo ag songs before my boom done show then sat there in bed the night before, determined, listening through that record, falling in love w it, and in turn being able 2 sing along to most of the songs the next day...
then did the same goddamn thing with gloom division!!! i only knew the words (ish) to what love, had briefly listened a couple of the other songs, then the night before rochester i was making bracelets and decided to do the damn thing and spin that record on loop, because i knew i love idkhow and Would get into these songs, and sure enough, went to that show the next day with half the words to that album committed to memory. then by buffalo monday even moreso. and now i cannot in every sense stop living in gloom division world

wanted 2 make a post about some positive things that happened at iDKHOW Buffalo last night, because there certainly was good in there, for everyone involved, and i want to highlight/talk about that stuff!
i make these posts a lot for shows, mostly for myself so i don't forget, but others seem 2 enjoy them too, and i don't think last night's show should be any exception.
- first of all, OPENING BAND in the crowd!!! something i have never heard of dallon doing for that one before, and all things considered, i fully see why he chose to do it here as it fit the clear vibe of just wanting to be close with and sort of revel in the connection with the crowd - and the ability of that to make everything better.
there were no flamboyant theatrics like with visitation, just all of us singing together (it was also just anthony playing onstage), and homie stayed out with us for a long time - most of the song. i was also right up there which was nice.
(i'm just gonna put a keep reading thingy here you can click so this doesn't clog tags/folks' dash due to being long)
was just super sentimental. dallon even brought the "gives me.... and ____ a purpose" thing back, mentioning/gesturing towards anthony, & also the thing where when we're all doing the last "band" he like, leans back and yells it with his hands around his mouth. just kinda got me & made me smile since he didn't do either of those things on saturday, and i always do them out of habit when singing the song because of past shows.
definitely the best moment of the night & the embodiment of everything i love about idkhow. he truly made the best out of everything.
i didn't film all of it, & also my camera angles are bad since i didn't want to shove my phone in dallon (or anyone's) face. this is the only video i really feel comfortable posting from last night since it just felt like everything was alright in that moment, 100%. not that i took many in the first place for that reason, but you get the idea.
- dallon strutting around with a pride flag from someone for half a song!! let me tell you, bro was showing that thing OFF. sadly i just had my film camera in hand in the moment so i just grabbed maybe five shots on that aka i don't have em yet, but i'll have em eventually, and it sure did happen, and it was great. did see a few posts in idkhow's tagged on instagram if ya wanna peep.
- back to what i said in regards to opening band about making a rough situation more positive, dallon brought up this exact point (even moreso than usual, including just on saturday in rochester) earlier in the show while talking about a letter - he went really in depth about turning negative stuff into something beautiful. and was talking about how when he wrote the song, he could only hear what we were doing now (you know the parts, in the chorus) in his head, and now he gets to actually experience it, and so he never stops playing this song even 20 years after he wrote it. i love dallon's love for a letter, man, and hope he never does stop.
- downside has truly become one of my favorite live songs. holy moly dude it had even the otherwise seemingly casual fans going wild, possibly even more than rochester actually. that is a song to freakin JUMP to if there ever was one!!!
- did mention this in my post from last night, but a while after the show (there were only maybe a dozen of us around at this point), on his way out to the bus, dallon kind of smiled & waved at us/said thank you, first to the larger group closer to the venue and then to the few of us a bit further down, too.
can't really word it right, but just the fact that despite seeming quite down, still, bro took care to make sure we all felt appreciated/not ignored was sweet. i think maybe he could tell we were concerned, i don't know, dude, all i do know is there's a lot of kindness in that dude's eyes.
had honestly never really interacted with dallon all these years prior to these shows (besides theatrical visitation crowd stuff), so i hadn't fully realized until these past few days - really given me a different perspective i hadn't fully caught onto before amidst the dramatic aspects of idkhow/dallon & their shows, i guess.
point is, dallon's a kind dude. be good to him. just wanted to say that.
- and finally, last night was my eighth (!) idkhow show, & what's crazy is i have never traveled more than an hour & a half for one all this time. i can't say that goes for any other band, and that fact doesn't go lost on me. western ny loves and shows up for idkhow, & idkhow loves and shows up for western ny always. <3
i just have so much love for all this, dude. i miss the shows already.
this project & dallon's music & the live shows have all been in my life for so long. both of these shows have been special in some way or another, last night being a reminder of how powerful everything idkhow has going is to the point of being able to make something good out of, well, whatever might be going on.
truly hope to catch another show back around here sometime soon. please get out 2 a gig if you can - chances are, like me and everyone i've encountered, really, at their shows, you'll never want to stop going, either, if you do. :p

hey idkhow folks i just want to say some stuff about tonight's show as someone who was there, in a completely respectful manner (this is mostly just me talking to myself because i just feel bad & want to help in these situations):
so tonight a handful of songs were cut from the setlist - sixft, sunnyside, visitation, boring, i may not be thinking of something else.
all night dallon was being really open, moreso then usual expressing gratefulness for the crowd & band and basically repeatedly saying it was a blessing he gets to do this and have the kind of problems he has, lots of emphasis on turning negative things into something beautiful etc, which i now see probably ties into the other stuff -
choke came super early, then razzmatazz, then everyone walked off stage.
dallon walked back out and immediately led us in all just singing a song together pretty emotionally, acapella, my memory is failing me but it's a popular older song (a cover). he was mostly sitting on the stage during this.
then came opening band. of the band, just anthony came back out for this one. dallon came into the crowd, something i'd never heard of for that before, and no theatrics like with visitation, we just sang together, and he stayed out with us for a really long time.
overall dude just seemed rather sad/off. don't want to elaborate too much but trust it was significant enough that it had me (and others) genuinely worried. but moments like opening band seemed to mend that & just were great moments of connection. in that moment, everything was alright.
some of us waited after, kinda out of concern/wanting to make sure everything was ok.
maybe 20 minutes ago homie walked out to the bus and smiled and waved to the couple of sections of us (we all kept our distance & just sat there, it was just maybe a dozen of us). we waved back & told him to take care and stuff. he still seemed down, but i was just glad to see he was ok.
overall i just want to say please show him all the love there is at the coming shows (i believe toronto is next). i love this project and it's clear he does and i just want him to know how much we care, regardless of what's up (the details are none of our business of course)
sorry for bad formatting/wording, i've just had a couple experiences where something like this has happened at a show (different bands) and every time i just feel horrible and just want to help.
just give these shows to come so much love for me, and treat homie with kindness, is what the point of this post is <3

time 4 yet another wavernot4love gig recap, gloomtown rochester edition (aka my seventh time seeing idkhow, fourth in rochester, & third at the montage music hall, the latter two a feat i cannot say for many bands) (note this was typed primarily at three am last night so once again there is probably incoherent rambling):
- gonna start this off with this clip of sunnyside since 1. i think that is becoming my favorite song off gloom division and 2. the ending gives me a chuckle
- boring live finally came back 2 me after four long years!!!!
- (dallon neurodivergency mention when talking about the themes of gloom division) (crowd erupts in cheers)
- return of the mormon tabernacle choir comparison arrived post- a letter, with dallon saying the next song (what love) wasn't something they tell you about in church, in typical cheeky fashion
- somewhat related, bro was wearing a gold sparkly grandma cardigan and randomly ripped it off and threw it CLEAN through the doorway of the like, green room at montage mid- what love. speaking of he said people at the vip earlier apparently planned his outfit
- dallon straight up grabbed a kid by the hand mid song and yanked them out of the crowd & onstage so they could do a lil jig together? good for them!!!
- going to leave the dallon quote "this isn't a frat house!" here w/o context
- someone handed him a giant american flag with a picture of him printed on it. god bless america
- ALL OF THE BRACELETS/KEYCHAINS WENT? after the show maybe 40 of us camped outside in case dallon came out and at one point someone who had reached out about them came over & so did a BUNCH of other folks who realized there were, in fact, bracelets. my cousin referred to it as the "meet & greet" since there were barricades set up along the sidewalk which gave me a bit of a laugh. guess i'm making more for buffalo yippee!!!! possibly may make stickers too later if i have time. i'll probably post em, but otherwise look for the person w curly hair & a baggy black thought reform hoodie w bracelets on a carabiner!
- so while we were waiting my cousin and i were sat RIGHT next to the main entrance of montage, right? basically the start of a sort of line of people sat down going down the sidewalk.
anyways, at one point only maybe 45 minutes after the show, out of said main entrance strolls dallon. collective whiplash moment as bro took one look, stopped dead in his tracks, we all collectively looked at each other like
Tumblr media
and dallon (who i think was truly surprised so many of us were out waiting in the cold) goes, lightheartedly but genuinely, "what are you guys doing all out here? it's freezing outside!"
and then proceeds to kinda frolick around for a couple minutes laughing w people or whatever. we didn't really approach him since i think he was a bit overwhelmed but it was still just a funny moment and we'll see what happens in buffalo! maybe less people will hang after so it'll be less intimidating for him.
- i do feel the need to mention i heard this one kid we were talking to bring up video games to him & dallon said he's not a huge video games person he just plays the last of us & spiderman really which is funny to me but fitting
- i did bring my point & shoot so once i edit those maybe i'll post some!
anyways, stoked on tomorrow's show yay!!!
