I took these photographs of my work or created them as they both hold my identity and portray myself in colours, tools, items, direction of lines and other abstract notions. I chose one that’s simpler in design and one that is more complex to showcase in a polarised form a presentation of myself. In a sense to illustrate that my self identity isn’t boxed in and I prefer to showcase identity is in more ways than just one. As not only show simplicity or complexity but rather show the ability of both or more.
What was the theme for my project?
To preserve physical identity and only produce a form of work that displays myself in other ways. Through my digital portrait above and piece below as well, I present to a casted audience truths, facts and surroundings that fill my daily life. My theme consists of a purpose to fulfil the task of recording daily life and self identity.
How have I developed ideas?
In terms of ideas I like to keep track of my dreams so I note them down enough from any recollection. As I mould my digital pieces I go through about a hundred layouts and frames till I manifest something that can visually match the chaos and dimension of dreams as well as daily thought capture. This is what all the twirls and swirls and warping represent.
..yes, I am a trash collector. I tend to just keep with the longing that if I toss something it’ll be gone forever and I’d soon contemplate why I hadn’t kept it. It’s generally trash just like receipts, clothing tags and my typical flavoured gum wrapper. One day it just started and I developed it into a trait of mine since noticing and haven’t been able to stop since. Other hoardings may include tins, scrappy paper for crafts, stickers from goods like barcodes and..you get the picture. Here above I’ve shown some of these factors slapped on a canvas illustrating my collective habits. It has come to good use indeed so it’s not like a waste of my time doing what I do. On the piece of inked paper I also demonstrate a capture of a dream I had during that time as I enjoy writing a lot and also keeping a record of my dreams. I remain quite in touch with my subconscious dreams and the solace I find in bringing my inner thoughts and feelings close to paper and ink.
