* . ∙ •✧ * NICOLAS HERRERA —
“–God, I think that’s another mosquito. I don’t think I’d mind ‘em as much if their bites didn’t itch so bad afterward. Or if they only came out in the evening instead of three in the afternoon.” Nicolas sighed, scratching one of the numerous bug bites on his arm.
“It’s not just me, is it? If mosquitos don’t go after you much, consider yourself lucky.”
Stella eyed Nicolas up and down, smirking the
whole while and locking her hands
behind her back for a look of innocence ( though
surely he knew otherwise ).
“Skeeters love me. I got sweet blood,” she said,
shrugging her shoulders. “But I ain’t too unlucky,
I don’t think. Sweet blood’s better ‘n
bitter, don’tcha think?”

roux halted immediately as a surprise blonde appeared in front of her, and the girls eyes widened in fear. she wasn’t too good at hiding her emotions.
“ the fuck you want? can you move, lady, i gotta go.. ”
her voice was a mumble, lowering her head to keep from attracting any other unwanted attention.
Stella couldn’t help it — when the kid all but threatened her
in what she could only imagine was her ‘scary voice’,
she opened her mouth and laughed.
Not to mock the girl — well, maybe a little, she
had a reputation to uphold — but because
it was so unexpected. Only people who talked to her
that way were generally people who had a
chance of ending up on the list.
“Spare me the threats, kid,
you ain’t got nothin’ I haven’t seen before.
“’Sides, you ain’t got nothin’ to worry
about from me. Not yet at least. I ain’t got nothin’
I’m gonna wanna steal from a scrawny lil’ thing like you,
‘n I gotta rule. I don’t hit kids.”
She kept herself in the middle of the alley, blocking the
girl’s way in case she thought to make a
daring escape. She looked Roux up and down,
trying to gauge as much as she could from appearances
alone. Her eyes landed again on the bulge
in her jacket and she nodded towards it.
“So what’ve ya got for yourself, kid? Somethin’
good ‘n worth it?”

* . ∙ •✧ * RAYLAN ROBERTS —
Eyeing the girl, the deputy nodded at her words. “Y’right, protect and serve.” His eyes fell down to the tattoo she was touching up for someone else, “Get a lot of ‘fuck the police’ tats?” He questioned, leaning against the wall. “Always a laugh when I see those, as I throw their ass in the back of my car.”
“ You gonna arrest me if I say yes, mistah deputy? ”
Stella teased, pausing her gun to look over her shoulder
with a coy smirk. Of all the things Raylan
could or would arrest her for, that would be the
very last of them.
He probably should have arrested her twenty times over.
She couldn’t help but tease, even if it pissed him off.
She turned back to her client, who was too busy clutching
the chair so hard his knuckles were white to pay any
mind to the conversation taking place.
“ Only ever done one of those, back in m’early days, ”
she said and peeked back at the deputy.
“ Guy ain’t livin’ now. ”

* . ∙ •✧ * AJAX LAFONTAINE —
how could he have ended up in a place like BumFuck, he had arrived not more than two days ago and he felt ready to blow his head off with a shotgun. even on the run it was way too easy to resort to his old ways,
especially when someone actually knocked their own wallet onto the street. picking up the wallet, pocketed what cash was inside before jogging to catch up with the person who had dropped it.
“Sorry mate, I think you dropped this.”
It’s not that Stella tried particularly hard to
familiarize herself with everyone in town, but in a place
like Bumfuck, it was part of the deal.
Suffice it to say that when she saw someone she didn’t recognize,
she just couldn’t resist.
She followed him for a block and was planning on following him
for another before doing anything, when he changed
all her plans with a quick display of sticky fingers and
fake generosity.
How was she supposed to wait after that?
Stella stepped up to walk beside the stranger,
a little hop in her step, and locked her hands behind her back.
She offered him a coy smile.
“Bold move for a new kid on the block.
‘Specially when you go ‘round stickin’ out like a sore thumb.”

** — OWEN CHASE ∙・◦ - ̗̀ ✴︎
“unless you came with the intentions of buying something, i’m not sure i can be of much help to you.” owen barked the same instant he heard the door open. it had been a long day and despite what people may have thought of him, he worked hard for what he got. “so, what will it be?” he asked as he finally turned to look at the figure.
Stella prided herself on her knowledge of the crime ring
in Bumfuck. She made an effort to know who was doing
what — especially because it made it easier for her to know
who to avoid.
And of all the criminals in this fucking town, Owen was,
without a doubt, the one who amused her the most. How
often did you find a criminal who owned a sweet tea shop?
Stella stopped in the door when he snapped and couldn’t
help but grin, laughing at him through her nose as if there
were nothing funnier.
“Well, you sure ain’t pussyfootin’ around today, are ya?”

“you alright?” her tone was gentle, soft and worried as concern etched itself into dainty features. elissa reached up, placing a small hand on their shoulder with a tender touch.
“don’t take this the wrong way, but you’re not lookin’ too hot.”
You killed her. You did. You tied her up ‘n burned it down ‘n killed her.
She s c r e a m e d .

Stella jolted and spun, hitting away the arm of the woman who
touched her shoulder.
“ What? ” she snapped, before her face softened.
Of course it’s a cop.
“ Sorry. ”

** — ROUX MATHERS ∙・◦ - ̗̀ ✴︎
silently, the curly haired made her way down the path, carton hidden deep enough in her jacket, the smallest of smirks appearing as she turned a corner into an alley. it was all she was able to grab, which meant she needed to make this last a few days until she could get some real food. oh well, it’s better than starving.
Stella fucking hated no-shows — the ones who went
out of their way to get ahold of her and pussied out
at the last minute without bothering to CANCEL. “ Fucker. ”
The alley was filthy and smelled like piss and shit. She’d
already waited too long and refused to wait any longer. Stella
kicked herself off the wall and made to walk out of the
stinking alley when her eye caught movement.
She knew right away it wasn’t her client strolling up late
— and he would have been a fool to do so —
so she waited in the shadows.
It was a kid. A fucking kid.
“ You’ve gotta be fuckin’ kiddin’ me. ”
Stella stepped forward, in front of the intruder, and put
a hand on her hip. She opened her mouth to tell her to
scram, when a bulge in the girl’s jacket caught her eye.
Not just a kid, but a THIEF.
“ Huh. Didn’t see that comin’. ”

I try to remind myself that all of this could be over tomorrow, because I could wake up and magically be 35 feet tall and not be able to act in movies anymore.
