It's been abit since I've posted fantroll work, and now seems like a good time to announce that I will no longer be posting or interacting with the fantroll community on tumblr. If you followed me for that content, I appreciate it, and hope you find similar interest in my other work.
Along with that, I'd like to open a window into my issues with the community if only for myself. I have no interest in a debate so if it strikes a nerve feel free to vague post in your own space, but leave me out of it HAHA.
I'll start by saying that there are good people in the community, but sadly they're drowned out by a majority of bad apples. The complaints I have are a part of every community in some way, but when your community is maybe 50 people, if we're being generous, it becomes a much bigger issue.
I came back to the fantroll rp community in order to heal, I wanted to go back to my roots and find some joy in a space that ultimately helped shape me into who I am. I wanted comfort, I did not find that.
Nobody is perfect, and I've surely made mistakes along the way. I made a personal promise to drop people that give red flags, but failed to go through with it for the sake of others.
I'm a person with a lot of interest who moves around often because I want to try new things, so I've been in a lot of communities, but this is the only one I've ever had to make a boundaries page for, and even when I did it was ignored multiple times.
Beyond that, I've had people who don't even have my discord lie about me despite never speaking to me. I've had rude ask sent to me over taking money from other's who need it more because I chose to sell adopts while having a job. And. While I've never had a community wide group chat to shittalk me, I've seen it done to others by people that are supposed to be their close friends. Among all this is even more questionable behavior. Scammers, and suspect artwork, all of that.
I think it's very funny that this community tries so hard to seperate itself from the homestuck community as a whole while the members of it wrap their identity deeply around it. I just wanted somewhere to play around in Alternia's worldbuild but had to defend my what is pretty lenient canon compliance. 😅 Not even because of homestuck's problematic aspects, but just because someone thinks theyre a better writer.
I could go on for hours, but it's really not worth it to think about past this. All I'll say is that if you're unhappy in this community, even an inkling. There are better places. There's a reason everytime I look back here I found the community members have switched over to almost entirely new faces. That is not typical for other long lived spaces.
