do you have resources on Israel being a successful decolonization project? And indigenous peoples supporting Israel, their writings/projects (I’m thinking like docs, vids, whatever resources) (:
hey anon,
i think one of the first things you need to have to understand israel as a decolonization project is a knowledge of our history.
understanding jewish history is key here. if you know jewish history as a whole, you will know why israel is a decolonization project. i’m not going to get into the entirety of our history here, but i recommend one big source:
Jewish Virtual Library. go through the history section, read every link, and that will answer your questions.
for instance, you need to understand what diaspora means and what happened to jewish culture in diaspora.
we always maintained a presence in the land of israel (this population is called yishuv. usually pro palestinians will argue they are palestinians, but no such country existed. if you want videos and sources on the mandate of palestine and its history, i have them, but the mandate was essentially britain babysitting the area after promising in the balfour declaration that they would return the land fully to the jewish population. it was not a country called palestine. and the british chose the name based on what the roman empire called the area), but during the 1st and 2nd diasporas, we were dispersed by oppressors.
these oppressors, like the babylonians, romans, the caliphate, the ottoman turks, the british, OCCUPIED the land and colonized it. do you see?
a dispersed people returning to a land that was stolen from them is decolonization at its core.
in diaspora, our culture was...haha...COLONIZED also. our language shrunk to only being used in religious texts, we had to speak creoles that mixed hebrew with the oppressor languages. our clothes like the sudra, and various traditions were erased. we were pressured to assimilate in order to receive any basic rights or we didn't receive them at all no matter what. that is being colonized.
now let’s move on to other resources:
first when it comes to indigenous people supporting us, indigenous people built an embassy in jerusalem to support the jews as a fellow indigenous people reclaiming their land.
second, it’s important to realize many indigenous north americans are siding with palestine in the way that many non jewish black americans are: through personalized propaganda. pro palestinian propaganda coopts jewish history and indigeneity and swaps it out, replacing the jews with the palestinians.
pro palestinian propaganda also focuses on tugging at emotions. it steals phrases from black power and landback movements on purpose. i can make a post with videos and such about this.
now here are some posts about this issue. some are articles and some are posts with listed sources. roots metals is especially good at this. she includes her sources at the bottom of her posts.
i’ve also included an account dedicated to israeli jewish history and artifacts and debunking the myth that we are not indigenous.
it’s important to note too that many of the other, fellow levantine indigenous groups like amazighs, copts, etc support jewish indigeneity and there are plenty of coalitions focused on this.
i want to say one last thing: if you’re looking for resources to convince the pro palestinian camp, or if you are the pro palestinian camp wanting to be convinced: i don’t bother with this anymore. their denial of historical fact and archaeological record borders on delusional. it’s like arguing with a flat earther: no amount of proof or facts will change their minds.
now onto the posts:
A video about Hebrew being colonized and revised
click on the picture to get to the post bc tumblr hates lots of links:
i am focusing on videos and posts like these with sources because what i personally learned about zionism and jewish history came from a jewish studies degree and lifelong study. this is more accessible than linking all the books to you and these creators focus on discussing this in the context of indigeneity and decolonization.
Debbie, who runs Roots Metals is an amazing resource because she makes these topics accessible and also she sits on the board of Indigenous Bridges working with other indigenous communities.
(i'm also going to toss in some relevant jewish history stuff bc this is how you understand jews as displaced judeans returning to our indigenous land)
(the term indigenous jews = jews who are mixed and both judean and indigenous from another land, like indigenous american. )
roots also did a two part series on jews discussing colonialism, including arab colonization
and now tumblr won't let me post anymore photos lmao so:

it's also important to understand that zionism itself is an indigenous landback movement:
That Semite debunks the myth of Israel being a settler state well here
An example of our connection to the land, one of many
now onto creators i definitely recommend following who focus on this topic:
Josh -- focused on Israeli archaeology and debunking the myths about Jews not being indigenous and Israel never having existed.
Ethnically Jewish -- an amazing older resource about our history both in the region and in diaspora. this addresses indigeneity.
Decolonized Judean -- "We are a Judean empowerment movement promoting justice & decolonizing Jewish identity."
Roots Metals
Indigenous Coalition
Genetically Jewish
SWANA Indigenous Alliance
Yishuvim Archive -- pictures of and posts about the yishuv jewish community
That-Semite - he even has a nice section labeled "decolonization"
Jews For Indigenous Solidarity
Modern Israelite -- for information about ancient Judean cultural practices that are being revived
Judean CEO
Archaeological Chronicles
Inuk Yehudi
Lani Makeel
again, i recommend going to the embassy website i listed, but i'm sure there's more. as i find things, i'll be sure to start posting them
there are other indigenous non jewish creators who help and support us and talk about us being indigenous too on other sites if you'd want any of that.
ryan from ryan knows things on tiktok is the best, i love him.
okay so to sum it up: you have to know the entire picture of jewish history to get why this is a landback, decolonization project. please show jews some respect and read about us. start with these posts and then if you want books or anything, i have recommendations.
simply understanding the history of jews and israel and the land itself show all of this.
thank you!
