Hey, everyone! Beck (Aera and Jihun mun) back at it again with who is (hopefully) my last muse for a while, considering I’ve still got pages to set up TT (setting up blogs is the w o r s t). But I’m excited to bring to this group my first muse who wasn’t intended to be, for the most part, funny or dramatic or comical. I present to you Laire Saint-Yves, Lark’s main dancer and vocalist, and sub-unit leader of D:Vine! Her name, as I’m sure a lot of you have been like “wtf are you thinking beck how tf do i pronounce that” ever since I first said it in the groupchat, is pronounced the same as “Lyra.” She goes by Lux, though, unless you’re pretty close! Read more about her under the cut and let’s get plotting! :D
Personality-wise, she’s pretty proper. Not demure by any means; raised by multiple mother figures, and so she truly sips that Respect Women™ Juice. A sweetheart, and pretty charming; knows how to work a room. She got lucky that her rich stepmom didn’t force the life of an heiress onto her, because she’s really a free spirit. She loves to walk slowly, take in the sights, loves to voice her opinions, loves pretty much everything as long as it can interest her.
Because she grew up so rich, she can be a bit naive about the strugglings of other people. She’s well-traveled, so she understands it from afar, but honestly she doesn’t truly get it and has gotten herself into some bad blood with other trainees for them mistaking her naivete as haughtiness.
Laire grew up filthy rich and filthy spoilt. Her father is a playboy actor from early Korean movies, and her mom is a Canadian artist.
heeeeer stepmom, on the other hand, owns an airline company that she (badum tsssss) built from the ground up. Edmee Saint-Yves, who Laire adores more than anything or anyone on the planet.
After her father divorced her mother and cheated on her stepmom, custody of Laire was given to Edmee, and they moved to France. Laire loves to travel; travels at the drop of a hat. Had private tutors, so she had absolutely no obligations. Once when she was thirteen she went to Rome for, like, six months just because she felt like it. She wanted to be a pilot for a while (and tbh still does), as her home is the sky. she probably spent 75% of her time till the age of 15 travelling, and then 20% of her time just galavanting around the streets of Paris, and the other 5% holed up in the Saint-Yves home library just devouring book after book.
She’s got a bit of a mischievous streak. Honestly she’s pretty much seen it all. Here’s a little paragraph from her bio that basically sums up all of her:
“her third home is parisian streets. laire looks often mismatched when she slips on her well-loved tennis shoes, muddy with adventure, with a light sundress. and over that comes her favorite woolly cardigan, too large but satisfyingly fuzzy. then over that, a purse: one that jenny crocheted herself, and in it laire religiously stuffs a frozen apple, some cheese crackers, jam, and an orangina bottle with a couple scoops of sugar. the gps tracker goes on and attaches to her stockings. the navy blue baseball cap is painstakingly adjusted over a lovely low bun. jingling with coins, young laire sets out everyday in search of a new story to tell.”
She was a bit of a scamp!! Kinda ran with some troublemaker crowds; nothing too bad, probably just petty vandalism at worst, but definitely not the kinds of kids Edmee would’ve wanted her hanging out with.
That aside, she’s CRAZY well-read and super smart as she’s naturally rather introverted and spent most of her time indoors. She can read, write, and speak in French, Korean, English, Spanish, Dutch, Japanese, Latin, and Mandarin. Private tutors growing up meant that she’s super intense with her education. She learned to dance after stumbling upon a ballet studio, then decided not to become a pilot and become a dancer instead. Her stage name is based on the Latin phrase “lux mentis, lux orbis” which basically translates to “light of the mind is light of the world.” She holds knowledge and openmindedness above all else.
She loves culture! It’s her favorite part of traveling. In all honesty, the culture of Korea is the biggest reason she wants to be an idol. It’s not her dream. It’s really like a super long, extended travel stop for her. She takes it seriously, yeah, like everything she does, but she’s always looking for a bigger and better adventure.
