Beatrix uses the same mechanical pencil since high school. Sure, they COULD replace it but they’re just going to buy more led and erasers for it. They’re emotionally attached to it at this point. Alongside that, they also have various kinds of fancy mechanical pencils that are over engineered for reporting. They have one that spins the led to make sure it’s always sharp. In the end Beatrix just uses the same pencil since 9th grade though.

One day they lose it and cry. They are ATTACHED to that damn pencil and is heartbroken. Portia has to search with them for it in hopes it isn’t completely gone. Once it breaks Beatrix cries and Portia frames it for them. They use the same led pencils for years at a time before they break and they have to move on.

I may be autistic and emotionally attached to my writing / drawing supplies and projecting but we don’t talk about that
