From what I remember it is because of the black plague. Sneezing was a sign of sickness. They would say bless you in hopes of stopping them from getting it.

I love Vikings just look at my name so what do you need to know about Vikings?
Can someone recommend some good books on the following subjects?
Slavery in the Chinese empire, and in pre-Colonial Asia in general
Slavery in ancient/medieval northern and eastern Europe esp. Vikings, Celts, and the pre-Roman Germanic peoples, Franks, Scythians, and Slavs.
Serf-dom in Medieval/Renaissance Europe.
I’ve been able to find books on the subject in every other time/place, but no luck (or not enough) with these so far.
