stumbling across an old road in summer. it honestly felt like we'd end up in another realm.

overgrown pathway at a hospital complex abandoned since 1997. it was just beginning to turn to autumn, and the amount of variation in colour and shadow was honestly phenomenal.

old ward at East Fortune Hospital, abandoned since 1997. the glass in these old sun porches has held up pretty well here; in a similar ward elsewhere in the complex, it's all smashed out.

now for some pictures I lowkey risked my life for. these waves might not look overly large, but remember that I was probably about 20 feet above them and still kept having to protect my camera from spray.
the afternoon following Storm Arwen, which brought winds of nearly 100mph to the east coast of Scotland. these photographs were taken from up on the harbour wall in St Andrews, where I was pretty certain I was going to end up blown right over the railing.

the morning after a storm bringing 100mph winds, and the waves are still a little rough. ordinally they lap against the shore with barely any height at all, and the beach is pure sand. that morning there were some large breakers, and the sand was absolutely littered with rocks. along the sea wall there were great piles of them, left from where the waves had smashed them up against the wall and they had sunk to the bottom. it’ll be a while before the beach looks how it once did.

the morning after the storm. 100mph winds were just off shore the night before, but come morning the Firth looks peaceful enough. perhaps a dozen large ships sheltered here overnight, and some of them can still be seen, facing in the direction of the previous night’s swells.
