its always insane to me how both sides of any conflict are okay with women being raped and beaten and tortured as a natural consequence. that either side will shrug it off and be like, well it was their fault for being property of the men and nations that attacked us. Even the most vile, awful, oppressive women in the world do not deserved to be raped. Whats so hard for people to understand that?

No matter how progressive people claim to be, many take pleasure in the fact that rape is a specific tool of violence and intimidation meant especially to humiliate victims, and people love seeing their enemies humiliated. The desire to hurt and punish overrides any claims of justice or moral qualms. I can’t say we can ask people to show restraint when it comes to something as politically and ideologically charged as this, but the bar is very low at least for not excusing rape apologia and they have still failed to clear it.
