Every year, I demand to know why Groundhog Day isn’t more celebrated on the internet. It’s the perfect absurdist holiday. There’s a big, round, adorable animal. He’s a prophet. Some guy in an old-timey top hat claims to be able to speak to the groundhog. Does he understand the animal’s language? Is it through telepathy? It’s a secret we are not allowed to know. People come from miles to worship the groundhog and learn the fate of the weather, which doesn’t even matter anymore with science and weathermen. The groundhog makes his prediction. He’s wrong 70% of the time, but we keep asking him. We are not interested in learning anything from our blind trust in a giant rat.

Today on crushing realizations
Identity theft is super illegal, and Stan was also legally dead. Ford could’ve done literally anything he wanted to his brother without consequences. If Ford was petty/apathetic enough, he could’ve had Stan imprisoned for the 30 years of identity theft; very easily actually. And to make matters worse, Ford did absolutely nothing to assure Stan he wouldn’t do that; hell, if anything, his actions said the opposite.
Stan’s fate was in the hands of someone who literally didn’t give enough of a damn about him to hug his brother after 30 years of separation. Stan’s entire future was completely out of his hands because he had to give it all up for portal work. I feel like we need to talk about this more.
If Ford was any less of a person that situation could’ve become a horror show real quick.

Random headcanon: the reason that Peach and Bowser don’t seem to get a lot of respect in some Super Mario games is because the Mushroom Kingdom is kind of a rural backwater and isn’t terribly important or influential politically, so people tend to regard Bowser as a C-list villain for being so hung up on such an insignificant conquest. Nobody really expects Bowser to be a serious threat – that would be like expecting a guy whose main claim to fame is repeatedly failing to conquer Wyoming to be a serious threat – so they get taken by surprise every single time.
