open, the mercy hq courtyard, afternoon of may 3
"These are good digs you all have here. I was starting to think I might never find my way around." Ari gestured at the labyrinthine complex as they spoke to their companion, clearly still adjusting to the world of Mercy. It had been over a month now since the merger, but that didn't mean Ari felt at home yet, still getting to know both the headquarters and the people that worked within it. Never mind the fact that the newcomer didn't entirely feel they were wanted, despite their best efforts to change that. "How'd you ever get used to it? One wrong turn and it feels like I'm never gonna find my way out."

biography
TW for mentions of drugs and addiction
From the moment Ari opened their eyes, they were immediately drinking in the world. Watching, learning. It was no surprise they learned to read before most other kids did, or that they excelled at puzzles and problems. There was a particular fondness for figuring out how things worked. Straddling the line between curiosity and insolence, they were always asking why?
She hated school, but suffered with it in the name of the game. Engineering felt like a logical fit, taking that innate need to make things work and turning it into a profession. But it wasn't easy, really, and Ari found an innate distaste for college, instead spending her time in clubs and wasting away the days. Eventually, she dropped out, saying fuck it to spending a boatload of money on something she hated.
Despite not finishing a degree, they were still highly skilled, and so managed to prove themselves to Sentinel, armed with talents and schematics. Ari hated the idea of forging weapons, but gravitated instead to the cybernetics division. Their creations could help people, help make the world a better place, and theoretically focus on the reduction of the harm instead of the creation of it.
She has no fondness for the collaboration with Mercy, but she's also not one to say no to a challenge. She's not entirely given up her reckless ways, sometimes a bit too bold for her own good. Outside of work, Ari still frequents clubs, still dips into reliance on drugs and alcohol, trying to find ways to quiet a mind always spinning with possibilities. The perils of genius, if you ask her to explain it.
Highly opinionated and incredibly sharp, Ari will not hesitate to tell you what they think of you. They have little tolerance for people they deem unworthy of their attention. Confident, but they verge on cocky, and as the world grows more dangerous, there's no telling where it might land them.
