Known as the birthplace of twin gods Apollo and Artemis, the tiny sacred island of Delos (Δήλος) is one of the most significant historical, mythological, and archaeological sites in Greece. Its position as a holy sanctuary to Apollo and location in the very center of the Aegean Sea attracted pilgrims from all over Greece and established it as a prosperous and robust trading port as well as an influential political force.
