Arista of No Fame
Baldur's Gate 3 | Larian Studios
.
I grew up in an orphanage in Baldur's Gate. Life was rough, not only due to my lack of family, but also due to my pale complexion. Many thought me cursed twice over; once for my race and once for my looks. On top of this, me and the other kids had to scramble to get by.
I found no joy in thieving, nor in the excitement of possibly getting caught (like some of my friends found). Or, at least, that was until I discovered Sorcerous Sundries, and all the books on magic it contained.
I used my tricks of cunning to steal books and tomes, always making sure to return them when read. I studied and learn, practiced incantations, and connected with the weave. But I developed a hunger for knowledge that could not be sated by books alone. So, I started sneaking into the Academy; to sit in on lectures and to learn from the learned. Of course, I did not blend in and was soon called out. But what did I expect? An arcane trickster hiding amongst wizards? And a white tiefling, none the less.
To my surprise, an arch mage found me a curiousity; that my troubled background had yielded a great desire to learn and create. He allowed me to stay.
Since then, I have devoted all my time to my studies. Lagging behind everyone who was afforded their education from a young age, I struggled to fit in and to catch up. But going back to my old life was never an option. I had decided to leave my roguish life behind to focus on proving myself in the world of the learned.
One day, I will become a respected wizard!
