Although link building is a commonly used SEO trick, Google clearly states that any back links built with the sole purpose of influencing Google rankings is against its guidelines.

How to improve your web page's 'Relevance' for search engines?
The relevance of your page and its content is one of the most important factors that search engines like Google considers while ranking your page for a particular search phrase. In other words, it should be clear to search engines that your web page is relevant to what a user is searching and thus the search engines will present your page to the user as a higher-ranking page.
There are multiple ways to make it clear to the search engines what your website is about. As an SEO or as a business owner/website owner, you should make sure all these boxes are ticked. Make it easier for search engines to do their jobs, and they will make your life easy for you!
URL Structure: The URL should contain your primary keyword, i.e. the search term that you are targeting with your page. For example, if you want your page to rank for ‘Plumbers in London’, its important to have your URL structure something like- ‘www.example.com/services/plumbers-in-london’.
Meta Title: The title of your page should clearly explain the topic of your page in order for Google to find it relevant. For example, if you want your page to rank for ‘Plumbers in London’, your page title can be ‘Professional Plumbers in London | Example Company’
Meta Description: The meta description of your page should contain your main keyword or its synonym. Example- ‘Get in touch for the best and most affordable plumbing services in London’.
Page content: Your page should have the keyword sprinkled around your content. It’s important to not overdo this, and have the right balance. The easiest way is to look at your top 5 competitors and see the keyword density on their page, and have a similar density of the main keyword in your page content.
LSI Keywords: Along with your main keywords, it’s important to have its synonyms or other search terms which have a similar search intent (called Latent Semantic Indexing keywords). For example, if you are targeting ‘Plumbers in London’, you might want to include phrases like ‘Pipe fitters in London’, or ‘London-based Leakage experts’ etc.

Schema Markups are one of the most powerful, yet underutilized tools in SEO. Schema markups in the simplest terms is a form of microdata added to your web page which enhances the description of your page in the eyes of search engines. In a way, it is a language in which your web pages communicate with search engines and clearly communicates what the page is about. Thus you can utilize schema markups to make your page more relevant to the search engines for the keyword or search term that you are targeting. And it is well known that relevance is one of the most important factors that search engines consider while deciding the rank of a page for a particular search term. It also adds enhanced descriptions for your web page on the search engine results page, called rich snippets. You might have seen some search engine results show some features of the business in the description part, like “5-star rating”, or “Award Winning London Lawyer”. These rich snippets make the pages seem more relevant to search engines on one hand and increase the click-through rate on the other.

How to improve your Google My Business rankings
Ranking higher on Google maps or making it into the “Google 3 Pack” for your local area can dramatically improve the number of leads that your business gets and thus the revenue it generates.
As per data, the tendency among customers to search with the ‘Near Me’ keyword while looking for local businesses has increased steadily over the years. And Google’s AI automatically shows the nearest and most relevant and reliable businesses pertaining to that keyword in the ‘Google 3 Pack’ (just below the Google Ads and above the organic results) on the Search Engine Results Page.
You can improve your ranking in Google Maps and make it to the 3 Pack for your local city by following these steps:
1. Create Google My Business Profile for your business.
2. Make your website relevant for the local search terms. For example, if you wish to rank for ‘Plumbers near me’ in London, your website should have relevant keywords in this regard and it should be clear that you are a ‘Plumber’ and that you are based in ‘London’.
3. Consistency of “NAP” information (Name, Address, Phone number) for your business throughout the internet.
4. Look for the competitors who are currently ranking top 3 in your city. Use tools like UberSuggest or WhiteSpark to find out all the local mentions of these competitors, for example, local directories, etc. Create mentions of your business along with backlinks on the same websites/directories.
5. Get 5-star Google reviews. Solicit your past customers to get 5 Star Google reviews. The higher the number of 5-Star reviews on Google, the more the chances of ranking higher.

With exact-match keywords, Google only tries to match the precise term. For example, if you bid on “Plumber in London”, Google will only show the ad to users who search for “Plumber in London”, misspellings (for example- “Plmbr in London”), plurals like “Plumbers in London” and reverse orders like “London Plumbers”.
With phrase match keywords, Google will match with slightly different phrases which have similar meanings or are synonymous, for example, “Pipe fixers in London” or “Pipe leakage experts” etc.
Broad-match keywords on the other hand can get matched with irrelevant terms and can be a waste of money. Google’s AI continues to peddle broad match keywords, but it will match any keyword against a potential lead or buyer for the service. Broad match keywords are one of the most common recommendations by Google since Google is heavily pushing broad match keywords. Thus most of the new users of Google Ads often fall into this trap and they end up losing a lot of money without any extra benefit in lead generation.

Why you should beware of Google's recommendations while running ads?
Google often suggests you add ‘relevant keywords’ for example. With this one click, Google adds hundreds of broad match keywords, which increases your ads cost multifold while not giving you any extra leads. Always set up focused and relevant ad campaigns step by step.

Why you must join the no code movement?
If you are trying to lay the online foundation of your business, No Code is the way to go. Today you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to hire developers to code your website. Rather, there are multiple no-code platforms like WordPress, Wix, Shopify, or Webflow.
Building websites are getting faster and cheaper today with the no-code movement. And with giant platforms like WordPress, you can create a variety of designs, features, and functionality in your website without writing a single line of code.
With the coding part taken care of already, businesses can now focus on the marketing side of their website rather than the technical side. So now businesses can invest more of their time and money into ranking their websites, optimizing their ads, or writing a converting copy, rather than on the nitty-gritty of coding.
Businesses that do not join this movement will soon lose out against businesses that are laser-focused on getting more traffic and conversion on their websites rather than fixing the bugs on their back end.

For new entrepreneurs or for businesses that are newly online, the question may seem pretty obvious, whether they need to invest in Google ads or SEO. But for anyone with some experience in online marketing, this is like comparing apples with oranges, even though both can be a handy tool to get your brand in from of your warm target audience on Search Engine Results pages.
While Google Ads can give quick results and are known to give you the sugar rush of quick traffic and conversion on your website, it is short-lived and only lasts as long as you are pumping money into it. SEO on the other hand is a long-term game and only starts giving results in the medium to long term (4-5 months to 1 year). But the results stay on for longer even after you stop investing in it.
When starting out, you might want to invest a major part of your marketing budget in ads in order to give you the initial boost, however, you need to gradually increase the share of SEO in your budget until about 4-6 months when SEO and Google Ads have an equal share.
After that, SEO should take up a major part of your budget in order to give you an edge in the long run.
