8 May 2024 | LCDrarry Fic
Romancing the Dragon
Prompt: "Romancing the Stone", 1984, Robert Zemeckis
Prompted by: Anonymous
Author: Anonymous
Word Count: 34,382 words
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: Action movie typical violence
Notes: Written for LCD, with Romancing the Stone as inspiration (and what inspiration it is).
My gratitude overfloweth to my betas, A and K, without whom I would be lost.
Summary: Harry Potter writes romance novels from the comfort of his London townhouse, with the assistance of his beloved cat, Juliet. He does not engage in rescue missions, talk to dragons, or develop feelings for Draco Malfoy. That would be absurd.
Read it now on AO3.
Please help promote the fest by sharing your favourite submissions, so more people can enjoy all the amazing new Drarry works of LCDrarry. Thank you!
Creator reveals are on 15 June.

Draco Malfoy, Itās Your Lucky Day by Faith Wood
Even though he's unarmed, injured, lost in the Forbidden Forest, and facing a possible murder charge, Draco Malfoy gets lucky.
Pairing: Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy
Fandom: Harry Potter
One of the first fics I ever read on ao3 (yes, I went through my history to check), and still one of my favorites. Iām not sure why this fic in particular stood out to me, but itās so well doneādefinitely a unique concept for an Eighth Year fic.
Quarter-Letter | 37,382 words | 228 pages
Drop Cap: Ardenwood
Body: EB Garamond
Typset and bound by me in InDesign. Cover designed in Illustrator.
The most time-consuming part of this bind was definitely the cover designāI spent way too long messing around on illustrator to create the design on the cover (which I wish I had added into the original typset before I printed, but own well). Then, when I went to cut it out with HTV, a lot of the smaller details ended up getting lost anyway.
It was my first time doing sprinkled edges on a book, which I chose to do for the deckled edge, and I have mixed feelings on how it turned out.
Cover Bookcloth: Verona in Espresso
Spine Bookcloth: Hamartan Goat Leather in Black
HTV: Siser Brand in Gold Metal
Endbands: Mettler Silk Finish Thread
Draco Malfoy, It's Your Lucky Day is free to read on ao3 here.
My mess of an illustrator cover file.
Another small detail, but Iāve finally made a mock-copyright page design that I like. Itās going in all my InDesign typesets.

Guess who remembered she had a rec tumblr? I has the great pleasure to re-read this Kinktober ! Despite that this thousand and five hundred words long fic is divided in thirty-one chapters, it's pretty clear that @onbeinganangel thought each word through, to convey how in love (and, of course kinky) Harry and Draco are.
It's as though each chapter is a bite of a gourmet meal, so delicious and filling that when you finish it, you wouldn't be against a few more bites, but you've had enough to satisfy your appetite

i don't know who needs to hear this, but i needed to hear it today, so here goes: you should write that fic. you should write what makes you happy.
it doesn't matter if the concept has been done before, you are still allowed to write your coffee shop/flower shop/college/western AU. you should write that fic that is wildly self-indulgent. you should process something dark and hideous through your fic. you should share something beautiful through your fic. those two things are not mutually exclusive, either. you don't have to be dealing with something traumatic to write something considered taboo. and yeah, even if that might be a little out of character for that old man, you're still allowed to write it.
and if someone gets so upset about it they're in your inbox being an asshole, you have my permission to delete that message and move on with your day. you also have my permission to tell them to go fuck themselves. you do not owe an explanation to anyone.
tag appropriately, and write whatever the fuck you want.

@Fanfic writers:
My friend send me this link, is a series on a profile on Ao3 (tumblr) that has different tutorials to insert things to fanfics via html code, I thought I would share bc itās really cool
Lists of tutorials:
How to make images fit in mobile browsers
This is a tutorial/live example on how to make large images fit on mobile browsers but remain normal size on desktop browsers.
How to mimic letters, fliers, and stationery without using images
This is a tutorial/live example on how to mimic the look of letters, fliers, and stationery (as well as other forms of written media) without using images. For all your epistolary fic needs.
How to make a āchoose your own adventureā Fic
This is a tutorial/live example on how to create a "Choose Your Own Adventure" fic. While this has been explained before (see here), this particular tutorial shows you how to use a work skin to hide the next parts from the reader until they click through to get to them.
How to make linked footnotes on Ao3
This is a live example of how an author can create linked footnotes in their work with only a little bit of HTML and no workskins required. This is best viewed by clicking "Entire Work". While I've included the actual coding in bold and italic once you click "Hide Creator's Style", there's a more detailed explanation here.
How to change text on Ao3 when the cursor is hovering over it (or clicked on mobile)
This a tutorial/live example on how to have text change or appear once a cursor is hovering over it. Helpful for pop-up spoilers, language translations, quick author's notes, etc.
How to mimic authorās notes and Kudos/Comment buttons
Anonymous on tumblr: do you have a skin that would mimic the authorās notes and review/kudos buttons section from the end of a fic? the desired effect being that the fic could go on after the āendā of the fic, so after the authorās notes and review/kudos buttons
Here's a tutorial/live example to do just that, with some of the buttons actually functioning. I'll explain more inside!
How to wrap text around images
This is a tutorial/live example on how to align images to the left or right of the screen and have text wrap around them.
How to mimic email windows
This is a tutorial/live example on how to mimic email windows on AO3 without the need to use images.
How to make ios text messages on Ao3
This is a tutorial/live example on how to mimic iOS text messages on AO3 without the need to use images. There's also a chapter on how to have emojis displayed on AO3 as well.
How to make Customized page deviders
Bored with the default page dividers? This is a tutorial/live example on how customize your page dividers with no images needed (though I do show you how you could use images if you wanted to do such a thing).
How to make invisible text (That can be highlighted)
This is a live example how to make invisible text that can only be seen by highlighting the text. Tutorial is included in text, and you can always leave comments about questions you may have.
MOBILE USERS: Sadly, this probably won't work for you, since highlighting in a mobile browser is different than web. I've tried correcting this, but have yet to find a solution.
How to make a rounded playlist
Original coding and design is from layouttest. I make no claims for it, just tweaked it so it will work on AO3.
How to create notebook lined paper on Ao3
This is a live example of my AO3 skin that allows the author to recreate the look of lined notebook paper in their work. To learn more about it, you can find the tutorial here.
Sticky notes on Ao3 without using images
This is a live example of my AO3 skin that allows the author to recreate the look of sticky notes (aka Post-Its) in their fic. To learn more about it, you can find the tutorial here.
How to make deadpoolās thinking thinking boxes on Ao3
This is a live example of my AO3 skin that allows the author to recreate the look of Deadpool's thinking boxes in their fic. To learn more about it, you can find the tutorial here.
How to make newspaper articles on Ao3
This is a live example of my AO3 skin that allows the author to recreate the look of a newspaper article in their work. To learn more about it, you can find the tutorial here.

Harry reminding Rose about his blindness, and Rose having the sweetest reaction to it.
From: The Boy from the Piano Shop ch8
Harry and Rose is probably the relationship I enjoyed writing the most in this fic (after Draco and Harry, obviously)!

Fic rec:
After a nearly 10 year absence from writing H/D ā Faithwood is back. I was lucky to be her beta on this monster and it's amazing. If you loved her writing before, you're going to be thrilled. If you aren't familiar with her ā you're in for a treat. It's 10 chapters and she's posting one every week (or sooner if she can). Goā¦readā¦leave her love for coming back!!
Title: Beholden
Author: faithwood
Pairing: Draco/Harry
Rating: Expicit
Length: about 100k when she's done posting
Genre/Content: Hurt/Comfort, Romance, 8th Year, enemies to friends to lovers, injured Harry
Warnings: none
Summary: Draco Malfoy might not be a killer, but it turns out he's an effective painkiller. If stopping pain was all Draco's touch did, things might not be so complicated, but either way Harry can't afford to be choosy.

anyway the actual point of fandom is to inspire each other. reading each other's fics and admiring each other's art and saying wow i love this and i feel something and i want to invoke this in other people, i want to write a sentence that feels like a meteor shower, i want to paint a kiss with such tenderness it makes you ache, i want to create something that someone else somewhere will see it and think oh, i need to do that too, right now. i am embracing being a corny cunt on main to say inspiring each other is one of the things humanity is best at and one of the things fandom is built for and i think that's beautiful

Destroy the idea that you need to have a fandom "brand"
Post whatever you want. Be chaotic. Consistency? I don't know her.
You are a complex human who enjoys many things. So is everyone you know. Allow your blog or your AO3 or your twitter to be as messy and jumbled as you are.
