So just like the answer to the last question, you will be correct. Characters like Lord of Calamity Sorey, Fractured Keele & Luke, etc. would be disqualified for this event as they have their mainline versions in their respective games. This also applies to characters like Fractured Milla, Fang, Roar, Claw and such of the sort

For violet-eyed Elle in Tales of Xillia 2, (putting her existence in Asteria and Rays aside), I would also disqualify her from the event since it is still a different version of Elle like how Fractured Milla is a different version of Milla or the characters above are like.

That being said, If you need these characters to enhance your creative endeavors, you can use them but just in a minor/small aspect to supplement your work. For example: lets say your work is focused on Lara but you want to add Elle in some way, you can as long as Elle's representation doesn't detract from Lara. After all, the work is about Lara, not Elle.

for this event, putting xillia as the example, i'm guessing balan, yurgen and isla, chancellor marcia and sonny, lara, and the twins nova and vera as well as the sharil siblings can be used, right? and then bisley, the former maxwell, and chronos, are too important as antagonists to be featured, much like the chimeriad. i also get that nachtigal or ivar must be the focus rather than rowen and milla respectively, and that elle, julius and fractured milla should be counted as still part of the main cast. however, my question starts with who would be defined as a minor antagonist: are gilland and victor counted or discounted? what about rideaux? as not antagonistic but still side characters, what about all the named great spirits and origin? and what about alternative versions of the characters used in crossover games, like the elle from asteria with the violet-colored eyes? thanks for answering in advance

Yes, characters such as Balan, Yurgen & Isla, Chancellor Marcia & Sonny, Lara, the twin Nova & Vera, and the Sharil siblings are all allowed for this event. I would put Rideaux and Ivar in this section as they are considered minor antagonists.

Characters like Bisley, Chronos, and the Chimeriad wouldn’t be part of this event due to their status as “Major Antagonists”. I would put Victor on this list as well since he would be considered major as well.

For characters like Nachtigal and Gillandor, I wouldn’t count them for this event as well since they were major antagonists in Xillia. This would also apply to alternate versions of characters from crossover games.

I’ll explain my reasoning. Rutee & Philia are major protagonists in Destiny, but in Destiny 2, they are delegated to supporting roles. Even though they are supporting roles in a different game, they were still a main cast, so it wouldn’t be in the spirit of the event. This would also apply to characters that are different in a crossover game. For example, Ion from Tales of the Abyss and Libera from Tales of The Rays.

As for the great spirits/origin/maxwell, they will count for this event as I, myself, would consider them as supporting roles at least, even though their prominence can be more important in Xillia 2 comparative to games like Phantasia, Symphonia, ND, and others. Tales of Commons is another Tales of Mobile game that has a fair bit of footage just like Tales of Breaker. Seeing some preservation of these games in some form is always amazing! Hopefully one day these games can be experienced by all.

Tales of Breaker alongside all the other Tales of Mobile games are one of the few niche tales titles that are not available to anyone anymore due to lack of accessibility/no words on remakes or remasters. UnsungTales is here to represent these games as well as side characters/npc that heighten your enjoyment , so I hope to see you all there!

Silly question. You said to the previous anon that supporting characters are allowed, iirc? So, does this include Lundgrom, even if he's from a core series game (Phantasia)? ...People tend to forget about him, but he's pretty cool.

Yep! Characters like Lundgrom, Brambert, Arsia, and Milard are allowed for this event!

As long as it is not the mainline cast or the cast member is not the main focus

For example, if you were writing a fan-fic about Seles from Tales of Symphonia but want to have Zelos in it, you can but only if he is not the focus or has a minimum part in the fic, so that Seles stays the focal point. This also applies to fanart and such.

for the purposes of this event, do the gachas count as side games or should we still stick to side characters there? In particular I was eying the Recollection cast, but...

Good question! For this event when it comes to which characters are the main focus, it would be characters that don't have the same spotlight or has no spotlight compared to a lot of the "mainline cast" in the Tales Series (e.g. Niche Tales characters, Supporting characters like Noelle from Abyss or the Sparrowfeathers from Zestiria, or NPCs). These characters can come from the games, but they can come from other official medias too (Tales manga, light novels, movies, etc.)

Gachas such as Rays, Asteria, Link, Crestoria, & Luminaria would only count Supporting Characters and NPCs instead of its main cast. For example, Ayncia or Beatrice from Link, Gareth Outrigger from Rays, Orie from Card Evolve/Asteria, Sonia from Crestoria, or Frederick Logerot from Luminaria. From my knowledge, the Recollection cast is very much involved in Rays' new story & promotional material, so they are treated as a main cast and wouldn't count for the event.

As for what niche tales characters mean, it would be counting the casts from tales games that are not talked about such as Summoner's Lineage, Tactics, Breaker, Commons, Wahrheit, Material Dungeon, Narikiri Dungeon, the original characters from Fandom/Eternia Online, the Rufres Tribe in Reve Unitia or ND2/ND3.

Hey everyone! Had some issues but hopefully this post works today! Welcome back to another year of UnsungTales! An Unofficial Tales of Fan-Event to celebrate the obscure, the unknown, and the forgotten parts of the Tales of Series! Come celebrate with us on May 15th to May 22nd, 2024.

What is UnsungTales? Here are some pointers below!

The Tales of Series has alot of characters and games that tend to be overshadowed or underappreciated by the mainline games or mainline cast. This event is to celebrate the ones that don't get the spotlight.

Celebrate however you like! With art, fan-fiction, information & facts, videos, etc. Whatever you like!

This event is to celebrate the ones that are lesser known in the Tales series. NPCs, Side characters, Tales cast from games that aren’t mainline titles, and niche characters from other tales media are the main focus here!

Hopefully this year will be as amazing! I hope you all will join and celebrate with us!
