uuuugh I loved Vigil season 2 sooo much I'm obsessed with those two and their little family (I need more episodes pls)
Listen DCI Amy Silva is soo whipped for her girlfriend DI Kirsten Longacre lol. Kirsten say 'jump' she say 'how high love?', Amy's bossy and blunt with everyone, having always her way... except when it comes to Kirsten lol 😂, 'ok love, whatever you need love', i love it. But it's a good relationship, I love them. I don't know who is more stubborn of the two because it's a freaking match, but Kirsten kind of always wins it between the two lol. Man, I would be too Amy, don't worry, it's the beautiful face? it's the smartness? ...and smartass-ness lol? it's the redhead? it's the accent? it's the bluntness? it's the cheeky smile? who knows but it works 100% for me too lol.
Anyway when Kirsten was threatened by that dude and she said she had a daughter at home??? I was in a puddle 😭 Poppy is her daughter 😭 I love them so much.
I love them so much and this show, but there was a case of missing 'person' here....

Bea and Ava cooking dinner together one night after a light/happy day at work. Bea doing most of the cooking because Ava is busy jumping around (calling it "dancing") and singing along to the songs playing from her "boo boo would love these" Spotify playlist. "Let's get married" by the Bleachers comes up and she and her wooden spoon give the performance of a lifetime (as they have been doing for the past 45 minutes). After a few minutes Beatrice notices that although the songs keep playing, Ava is quiet and seemingly concentrating on the task she was given (lost in her own thoughts, most likely).
Worried, Beatrice bumps her shoulder and offers her a small concerned smile, asking if she's okay.
"We could, though, right?" is Ava's answer.
"Get married", she adds, seeing Beatrice's confusion painted all over her face.

The Teacher Becomes the Student
one of the many things that i love about Avatrice is Bea’s mentoring of Ava, specifically her ability to change tactics mid-training and how that change contributed to them connecting on an emotional level.
for instance, Beatrice might seem a bit cold or detached sometimes…
…but of course it’s going to come off that way compared to Ava’s upbeat and happy go-lucky personality.
they’re polar opposites in terms of their outward expression. but what i appreciate about Beatrice as a mentor is that, because Ava is so much different from her, Bea constantly works to find new and fresh ways to mentor her throughout their journey.
one of the key moments is when Beatrice reads the story about the lesbian nun to Ava. Bea obviously knows what the story is about when she tells it, including its double relevance; it’s a lesson for Ava, sure, but this breakthrough moment was more about Beatrice. you can see she’s nervous when she reveals to Ava that the warrior nun in the story is a lesbian. but i don’t think Bea’s voice shakes because she’s nervous about telling Ava; i think she’s more nervous about admitting it to herself.
Beatrice speaking her truth aloud and then pushing forward by telling Ava about her struggles is her breaking through her own personal pain.
after wiping her tears away, Beatrice tells Ava that now it’s her turn. i’m sure Beatrice caught on that Ava has a knack for running away from scary situations, so when Beatrice has a chance to mentor Ava, instead of yelling at her or scaring her (like Lilith and Mother Superion), Beatrice opens up about herself in an attempt to connect with Ava. all Ava wants is connection, something Beatrice picks up on very early, but Beatrice isn’t going to ask Ava to do something that she herself is unable to do.
as a mentor, not only is Beatrice leading by example, but she is connecting with Ava by meeting her halfway and allowing herself to open up as a way to show Ava that they’re in this together.
and when Bea opens up, Ava dives in, as only Ava can: heart first.
from the very first time they meet to the very last moment, Ava slowly peels back Bea’s many layers and then just tears them to shreds. the thing is, despite her bluntness and cool demeanor, Beatrice strikes me as a very kindhearted and compassionate person. i imagine she remembers birthdays and loves kids and volunteers at homeless shelters. like top tier saint. but i feel like it’s all very understated and composed. “contained,” like that woman, who was flirting with Bea, said. but Ava makes it hard for Bea to stay contained. from swapping puns, to cheek kisses, to dancing drunk in a Swiss bar, Ava totally breaks Bea wide open.
and in letting Ava in, Bea goes from sacrificing her life because of shame, to living her life because of love.

There was a place she used to go to after the Order had days like these. Bad days. Ones that left her numb.
Historically, the place is both tangible and not—a lonely tower at the Cat’s Cradle, and once there, a few long moments of contemplation. But her old home is a long way away, and so Beatrice finds the part of her mind that needs this kind of treatment and sends it elsewhere. As for her body, she deigns to get to work instead of separating herself. The OCS may not be her world anymore, but there are wounded. People she cares for.
In the wreckage of their makeshift hideout, Beatrice wonders if maybe it’s never been the events of the day that seep the feeling from her. Maybe it’s always been this—this thing she must do to herself in order to succeed. Months of wandering have not divested her of the need to perform. The months have, however, been a reminder of all she’s lost.
She sets her feelings aside. There are things to do.

Silhdjqjskdiwie I just realized something and I may be late to the game but when that woman is flirting with Bea in the bar and Ava is looking all salty about it. Right as Michael is running through the door calling out to Ava if you watch Bea in the back ground the woman is ducking tucking Bea’s hair behind her ear and I’m just cackling because I can only imagine the error 404 code going through her head lol

We know “Beatrice” means “bringer of joy”, but I hope Ava actually told Bea that, at one point (or will): that she makes Ava happy. I imagine it changed Bea’s entire brain chemistry like she’s always defined herself according to how useful she could be to others, and happiness never really figured in there at all, and then Ava comes in and says “you make me so happy” and it becomes like a whole new purpose for her in life: to make Ava happy.
