Tahomaru always tried to make his mother feel special on mother’s day. Showered her with gifts and took it as an excuse to give her many hugs that day. Even if she was happy, this day still saddens him. He thinks about all the young children who were close to their mothers and how not just on his day, but most days they are just able to spend time with their moms.
Tahomaru will always desperately want his mother’s love and attention, even if overtime he starts to show it less..

xyakkimaru:
a tap. it’s faint, almost calculated, and hyakkimaru slowly turns to face his brother, as the male begins to lead him away. fishing… he’d never done that before— not conventionally, anyway. talk of it had caught his ear, in passing before. villagers discussing meals, or a favored pastime.
he’d only done it for survival, hyakkimaru. waded through the waters and turned the water bound souls dark and empty. that was his definition of ‘ fishing, ‘ but perhaps his brother, who was more familiar with the concept of ‘ normalcy, ‘ could teach him the proper technique.
light footsteps follow, empty gaze focused on the soul afront him. the gentle sounds of a creek drew the swordsman’s attention away, and in watching tahomaru slowly disturb the steady flow, hyakkimaru followed suit. the water was uncomfortably frigid against his single real leg, soaking the dressings around it and sending a foreign CHILL up his newly acquired spine. so focused on the way the water seeps into the lining of his tattered robe, he almost misses his brother’s second, albeit equally as shocking proposal.
a g a m e ?
“ wins… what? “ interest flickers, ever so briefly, upon his normally stoic expression, that same tinge of intrigue leading him further into the water. perhaps his unique line of sight would serve as an advantage——– he couldn’t see the water, but could see the cloudy specks of purity that swam within it. a blade emerges from the prosthetic arm he pulls off, and immediately drives itself within the belly of a fish. “ i got one. “
he holds it up. proud.
A small chuckle as he pondered what could be at stake between the two. There wasn't much he could offer, but still... perhaps he could make it interesting for his brother. ❝ Well.. how would you feel about... ❞ A pause as Hyakkimaru already held up a fish in his hand. To say he was livid was an understatement. A huff, a flicker of his brows before he cleared his throat to speak.
❝ Ahah.. you got lucky. It’s not over yet though. How about the first to 10 wins? The winner gets... to ask ask anything of other and they must comply. Sound good? ❞ Not really the best deal made in history, but Tahomaru wasn't sure what else to say. Instead of focusing on his brother... he needed to catch more fish.
His eyes scanned far and wide once more as he stabbed his sword into the water and caught two fish at once. ❝ Yes! ❞ Sweet victory. He tossed the fish onto the soil as he went looking for more. He silently cursed every-time he missed as he kept side glancing over to his brother to see his progress.

I’m sad. I’m already sad from ff7 feels and now I’m more sad with all these Dororo feels..

Only silence is offered, for a time. Perhaps because Hyakkimaru didn't know what to say in response. The possibility of having such a casual chat with his brother had once been... unfathomable. Yet, here he sat, blades sheathed and words lacking animosity. This was... nice. "No..." he begins, closing his eyes as the light breeze shifted his hair, "Speak. Makes me feel human. Not a monster." A pause, as he considered his next words, and then, "... I do not hate you. Don't want conflict anymore."
I do not hate you.
These were words that were hard for the prince to believe. For all his life he felt hatred for himself and by others. Could anyone truly love him, especially someone who was parted from him for so many years? A small laugh at himself in disbelief. Though he couldn't ignore the pain he felt for his brother, the pain in thinking he was a monster. Yes surely his abilities were beyond compare, but Tahomaru has seen more then enough proof that Hyakkimaru was human enough.
❝ You are no monster. I can tell you that much... it’s good to hear that you think this way of me. I don’t want conflict either. I’m sorry if father makes you feel less of yourself. Don’t listen to him. All he cares for is himself and rising in power. ❞ Nails dug into his palm, gaze now upon his brother.
Holding back tears, he spoke. ❝ I fear that even if we find an answer through this conflict that things will remain the same. I will always be second best... or not even that. Still, what I want most is for this war to be over. Hopefully, our efforts can bring peace in some way... ❞

xyakkimaru:
his brother was full of surprises, it seemed. it almost felt as if the other was CONCERNED for his well-being, and their father’s pursuit of him. tahomaru could easily raise a blade to him – had done it BEFORE, so why not now? extending an invitation to join him for a leisurely activity, and not a battle to the death? s t r a n g e.
a trap.
it had to be a trap.
“ don’t know. “ hunger was not something he was able to identify so easily. dororo often ensured he was getting the necessary intake of sustenance and nutrition, given his inability to determine when he needed it, opting to simply eat at the same time everyday to keep himself from ultimately expiring. still, unseeing vermilion flickered over to his brother’s outline, silence befalling them as hyakkimaru considered the other’s proposal.
it had to be a trap…
… but, it could also be an opportunity to gain an ally. an IMPORTANT one.
“ haven’t eaten all day. probably hungry. maybe… “ his way of saying yes. of accepting. of expressing interest without overtly revealing that he was, in a way, interested in getting to know his birth brother.
Hasn't eaten all day? He felt a tinge of worry wash over him, like any brother would. ❝ That must change. How about we go fishing then? I think it would be something nice for you to learn. ❞ A light tap on his shoulder before he heads forward to lead the way for them both. Tahomaru followed the narrow path up ahead, sandals almost glued to the grainy ground beneath.
Squinting, he focused on a river bank that would be perfect. When arriving, Tahomaru removed his footwear and started to prepare to get in the water. ❝ We can catch fish without any fishing rods. You can use your swords or a sharp stick I suppose. ❞ Rolling up his pants and his sleeves, he prepared his sword as he stepped into the water. ❝ A-ah.. it’s cold... real cold... ❞
A deep breath before proceeding further and doing his best to scan for the fish below him. ❝ Let’s play a game shall we? Whoever gets the most fish wins. Deal? ❞ A small smirk tucked within his features and he was determined to win.

Sits beside his brother. Doesn't say anything, doesn't look at him. He just... wants company. Wants to feel wanted...
He sighs to himself, sleeves and arms folded as he spotted his brother from the corner of his eye sitting beside him. Tahomaru could never tell what he was thinking. One minute it seemed he was a perfect killing machine and the next he seemed so gentle that he just might break. Looking over, he starred at his features for some time, not feeling guilt for he knew he could not see.
What was his purpose, his goal? Or was the prince thinking more then he should? Probably the latter. ❝ The breeze feels nice today doesn't it? It’s been so hot these pass few days... now I feel as thought I won’t suffocate beneath my kimono. ❞
It felt uneasy again. Tahomaru hated this sensation. Hated that feelings liked to torment him when he could just focus on the silent blessings that were offered to him... such as Hyakkimaru.
❝ If you wish for me to be silent then so be it. We don’t need to speak... I will... be quiet. ❞
