Steven X male reader who works at the donuts shop. They're really good friends, but Steven has a crush on him. (he likes him too) and him embarrassing himself trying to look cool in front of him, he thinks he messed up but he thinks it's super cute and they end up going on a date and it's all cute and fluffy. Sorry if this doesn't make sense, I'm not good at this 😭 love your writing 💜
ohemgeeeee of course! and thank you! This is such a cute concept so I hope you like it <3 I got a bit confused with which person is getting embarrassed so I’m going to choose Steven, hopefully that’s okay!
>~TW: fluff overload ;)
>~ Steven Universe x m!reader
>~context; reader works in the donut shop with Sadie, Steven comes in one day when Reader is working and very awkwardly asks him on a date to FunLand :)
Donut Look At Me!
Beach City was a means to an end. In your grand future plans, you were ready to tour the world. Visit everywhere you possibly could, escaping the towns small, yet homely atmosphere. You’d miss it here, it was your home. Luckily, you weren’t going to be moving away anytime soon. School was finished, but you had to make money to go on your great adventure.
That’s where the Donut Shop came into place. A means to an end. Sadie had hired you purely based off of your friendship from school. Both 18, she had been working in the shop for years at this point. She has been here with Lars, but following his unusual disappearance the shop eventually had to hire another person. You left Greg Universes car wash not long ago, he was a great boss but getting wet everyday wasn’t really your idea of fun. Then Sadie offered you the job.
It was a regular Wednesday afternoon, summer sun rays blazing through the open windows. A crystal clear ocean lapping at a lazy beach sends a steady thrum of sound. Sadie was out back, throwing donuts in the deep frier. The new rule of actually cooking the donuts was testing, to say the least. You were leaning against the counter, tapping your hand along the wood as you watched people go by outside the shop. Sadie was humming a song, she was a great singer, you had to admit. Maybe she’d end up in a band.
The door swung open, the bell twinkling above. Steven Universe stood there, tall, dad bod concealed behind a pink bomber jacket and the classic jeans and sandals combo. You could feel your knees becoming weak behind the counter, staring at him with awe as he approached. His hair looked bouncier today, his eyes already scanning through the shelves and the donuts displayed at the counter. He was humming a tune, it sounded like his ring tone. His gaze lifted to find you looking at him, a gentle blush creeped to his cheeks. “Hey! How are you doing today?” He fidgeted with his hands nervously, almost shuffling closer to the counter. You felt a warmth grow in your chest, what it would mean to you if you were the cause of his nervousness.
“I’m good Steven. How about you?” His gaze snapped up to yours, he gripped his hands, knuckles turning white.
“Great!” He said it almost a little too enthusiastically. He grimaced, cringing by his tone. He quickly averted his eyes to the glass shelves of donuts. “Can I get a vanilla sprinkles and uhhh…” He paused, looking at you he took a quick breath, and leaned on the counter. “And a side of you to go.” You looked at him, disbelief clearly written on your face and Steven immediately offered an awkward chuckle. “Good joke right?!” He said hurriedly, standing back off the counter and rubbing the back of his neck. You couldn’t help but smile, what a dorky, awkward guy.
“I’ll get you those donuts, unfortunately employees aren’t on the menu.” You held his gaze as you put the donuts in a box, adding a few of your favourites for good measure. He gave a kind smile, cheeks tinted pink with a blush of embarrassment.
“Good come back, Y/N.” He slid cash across the counter, watching you put it in the register. You could hear him tapping his foot on the ground, why was he being so impatient? He opened his mouth and closed it again, before taking a breath and locking eyes with you. “Want to go on a date?” Stammering it out as if it was the hardest thing to say in the whole entire world. “To uh, FunLand! Or or… Mr Happys arcade? If you don’t want to it’s fine, I don’t expect y-“ You gave him a small smile, his awkwardness was adorable.
“I’d love to go on a date Steven. I’m off at 6, meet you here then?” His face lit up, a smile growing.
“Yes! Yes that’s amazing-“ He stopped himself, taking a deep breath and trying to hide his excitement. “That would be great, see you then handsome.” He winked and gave you finger guns as he walked out of the store. You saw him giving himself a face slap and muttering some incoherent nonsense about being stupid. How cute he was.
✶✶✶
You stood outside the donut shop, trading your company uniform for a hoodie. You looked out towards the beach, it was 6:10pm, where was Steven? Just as you were contemplating if he had stood you up and if you should leave, you heard the rushed slap of sandals on the ground. You could hear panting, and watched as Steven hurtled towards you, bouquet of wild flowers in his hand.
“I’m here! I’m so sorry I’m late-“ He was wearing different clothes, lighter jeans and a new shirt, still keeping the star theme. He stopped before you, heaving and out of breath. He held up his hand and presented the bouquet, you couldn’t help but blush. “Oh Steven… thank you. This is really kind.” He nodded, then stood and sucked in a deep breath. “I had to get flowers the prettiest boy, right?” He gave a smirk, then tried to lean against the donut shop wall. He missed it by an inch and stumbled forward, catching himself before he made out with the floor.
“Steven are you okay?!” You went to help him up but he waved you away. Giving that familiar embarrassed chuckle.
“I’m fine! Really, let’s go to FunLand. I got us free tickets for the rides after working in the arcade for a month.”
“Wasn’t that because you broke one of the games?”
“Yes but…. I stayed on to help! So I got a thank you gift.”
You smiled, nodding. He held out his hand you took it, holding the flowers he gifted you in the other. The pair of you talked, walking down the boardwalk and to the sparkling lights of the amusement rides. It was sweet, he tried to deliver some pick up lines but they fell flat, yet they still made you laugh. His attempt at wooing you, even though it was miserable, was working. The genuine sweetness he showed you was heart warming. The pair of you reached FunLand, beelining for the roller coaster. He gently took the flowers from you, laying them safely at the entrance. Then your belongings and packed them in a tidy pile. On the roller coaster he wrapped an arm around you, holding you close as the pair of you screamed on each loop and dive.
You played mini games, he managed to win you a giant panda due to his sharp precision in knocking down wooden ducks with a water gun. After getting corn dogs, you found the pair of you sitting on the docks ledge. Sourcreams dads boat sitting to the side. The waves lapped gently at the posts, the night was clear and a gentle warm breeze ruffled your hair.
“Thank you, for agreeing to come on a date with me” Steven said gently as he nibbled on the side of the corn dog. He stared out into space, like he was gazing directly at one particular star.
“Thank you for inviting me Steven. It was… an amazing night.” Steven looked at you, a kind smile playing on his lips as he took your hand and held it.
“I have to be honest with you. I’ve had a crush on you for a while, I think that’s why I’ve been such a clutz. I just- when I see you I can’t help but feel nervous!” You smiled, giving his hand a small squeeze.
“Oh Steven, I’ve felt the same way. I think I’m just better at hiding it.” The pair of you turned to face each other, genuine smiles and eyes that told more than words could say. Steven leaned into you, before quickly looking away from your lips as of to ask ‘Is it okay?’. You merely gave a slight nod of your head in response.
Steven leaned in and kissed you, like there was no end to the night. Softly he took you in his arms, breaking away for a moment to look at you, before kissing you once again.

Platonic Rose Quartz x G/N Reader
[[Request by the lovely @insertuserhere88 !!
— There was no specific requests so I’ll employ some creative liberty in what I’m about to write :) It’s set before Greg’s gig on the beach, the night he met Rose.
((A/N: Y/N only used a few times xoxo Sorry for any typos, it’s late when I wrote this and I’m too tired to edit. I’ll do it tomorrow, maybe. :,)
>>𝘔𝘺 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘍𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥 ♥︎
It was 1990, Mr. Universe had a gig on the beach tonight and you were most certainly going to attend. You were ecstatic to get to see him live, you’d been a fan for a while now to say the least. You knew Rose would love his music too, but you had to find her first to see if she’d attend the concert.
You walked along the beach, kicking pebbles out of your way. You could see the cave and warp pad from where you were, already dreading the dastardly climb up to the cliff face. You always loved the carving of Obsidian in the cliff, a symbol of the Crystal Gems unity and their friendship. A quite literal representation, not only as a sculpture but when they fused. You had had the privilege of seeing and meeting her once, a gigantic gem with flaming eyes. Unnerving and most likely terrifying to anyone, yet you knew she was a culmination of your dearest friends. And your best friend, Rose Quartz.
You stepped up in front of the warp pad, looking at the door that led to each of the gems respective rooms. “Rose!” You called out, looking at the ground and idly kicking a rock. It flew to the wall directly beside the door as it opened, bouncing and flying directly across Rose’s face. “Woah!” she exclaimed, taking a step back. You grimaced, raising your hands in surrender. “Sorry Rose-“ She waved a hand in dismissal. “Don’t worry about it Y/N, these things happen.” Her dress whispered along the ground as her bare feet padded towards you. “What brings you here?” She peered down at you, her giant mass of pink curls surrounding her. “I wanted to see if you’d like to join me at the concert tonight. It’s the musician I like, Mr. Universe?” You put your hands in your pockets, your head almost completely laid back to look up at her. “Of course! Id love to! In the meantime, want to do something else? The gems and I have nothing to do for the rest of the day so Garnet has gone to explore the deeper parts of the temple, Amethyst is in her room and Pearl is in the training grounds. I’m on my own I’m afraid.”
“Rose you don’t have to ask to hang out with me. C’mon, let’s go to the beach. Maybe we can watch them set up for the concert tonight.” She clapped her hands in joy, hurrying to the open cliff exit. She held out a hand to you, you took it, holding tightly as she catapulted the pair of you into the sky and floated gently to the centre of the beach. You landed gracefully, thanks to her expert floating knowledge. She sat on the sand, her feet and ends of her dress in reach of tiny waves. They lapped lazily while you settled in beside her, the pair of you gazing out at the horizon.
“Rose, if you don’t mind me asking. Why did you start the rebellion?” She had never fully explained how it had begun, only that one day they were fighting for their very freedom. She sighed, looking up at you quickly and back towards the sea. “They wouldn’t listen to me.”
“The Diamonds?”
“Mhm.” Her eyes were hidden behind the shadows of her curly bangs, you could see her lips pressed in a thing line as she rested on one elbow, idly drawing gem shapes in the sand. “I tried to explain the beauty of Earth. How their mission for galactic domination was destroying worlds and life.” You noticed her swipe at the sand after she drew what seemed to be a diamond shape. “They ignored me, threw me out and told me to get back to carving the kindergartens.” She sighed, avoiding eye contact. “I chose to ignore them. I reformed into this dress, I chose to make a stand. I refuse to allow the Diamond Authority to destroy this beautiful planet.” You looked at her, admiration and pity in your gaze. How one gem could defeat an entire world, you had no idea. But if there was anyone who could do it, it would be Rose.
“What do you think Pink is doing right now?” You picked up a seashell, pulling your feet back into you. You twirled the shell around in your hands, investigating its colours and ridges. Rose let loose a dark chuckle. “Probably sitting on her Pink throne on her royal behind doing nothing except destruction. Except following orders.” She seemed so lost in thought, continuing to watch the waves. “She’s useless you know. Heartless, even. She couldn’t make a stand to her sisters, she didn’t even try to change the direction of this mass destruction.” Rose sat up, curling her legs towards her and wrapping her arms around her knees. “She’s weak, Y/N. Pink Diamond is so disgustingly weak.” You sighed, reaching a hand up and patting Rose on her arm through her curls.
“Can she help it? She’s been raised in a castle surrounded by Diamonds who know nothing but conquest. She’s the youngest and the smallest. Of course she’s weaker! She’s the bullied little sister, from what I can see.” Rose sniffled, rubbing a hand over her face and hiding behind her curls. Was she crying?
“I just wish they could see the world like me.” Rose whispered, the words seemed so heavy, like they meant something entirely different. You stood, patting her on the head, her curls bouncing like cotton candy. “They will, someday.” You reassured her, stretching your arms above your head as you did. You looked behind you to see the stage being set up, the sun was setting, almost completely below the horizon.
“Come on Rose, for tonight, let’s just enjoy some good music.” She looked up at you, smiling. “You are what I love most about humans Y/N. Always so kind and understanding.” She stood, grabbing you by the shoulders and crushing you in a hug. “Thank you.” She whispered gently. You rubbed her back, returning a ‘you’re welcome’ before breaking away.
“On the bright side Rose, maybe Mr. Universe will like you just as much as I do.”

(Steven Universe x f!Reader)
Special ★Secret★
You understood why it was kept secret, your relationship, that is. He was on a mission, a mission to find himself. He had briefly explained his family situation and even though he loved them dearly, they could be slightly overbearing when it came to relationships. You understood he wanted them to meet you in person first.
Steven had met you in a beat up diner in Electric city. You had just finished your job at the cafe around the corner, still wearing your apron you had sat down in the diner that was about ready to close. Ordering a basket of fries and eating them alone, staring out the window at a living breathing city. So many lives and so many people who had some sort of an inclination as to what they wanted to do with their lives. Continuing to munch on the rectangular fried golden delights, a man rushed in. He seemed to be in his early twenties, not much older than you. He had a head of thick, curly hair. Broad shoulders, chunky with muscle. A perfect dad-bod with the strength to knock over a bull. You felt yourself staring longer than you were comfortable with and averted your eyes back outside, watching a man and woman hold hands as they walked down the street.
You couldn’t help it but overhear the man talking to the waiter. “Can I get fries and a burger please?” He sounded very polite but definitely not from the city.
“Sorry man, we’re about to close after that lady over there leaves. Chef is gone home so no more cooking.” You could feel their gaze on you, now you felt bad for making the waiter have to literally wait on you to eat, and for giving this guy false hope. The man said his thanks and turned to leave. You felt an urge to speak to him, you felt drawn to him in some inexplicable way.
“Hey! I’m sorry I’m just leaving.” You stood up, hurriedly grabbing your bag, coat and scarf including the basket of what was fries. Grimacing you handed the basket to him. “I apologise, it’s only fry bits but there isn’t anywhere left open at this hour.” You smiled, while inside you cringed. ‘Give a stranger you’re half-eaten food, what a lovely gesture.’
He smiled, his eyes lighting up. “I love fry bits! Thank you so much. Want to share the rest?” His voice was so inviting, so welcoming. You didn’t have anything else happening that evening, plus it was raining outside. A little chat with a friendly stranger couldn’t hurt. So you agreed, sitting back down in the booth much to the waiters dismay. You talked, watching as he scoffed down the bits. You spoke about your families, your home, what you do and where you were going.
“To be honest Y/N, I have zero idea where my life is headed. I got in the car and just drove. I’ve been in nineteen states so far and interestingly enough, I haven’t had an encounter such as this before.” He chuckled, looking up at you from the basket. He had thick eyebrows, his eyes were also some shade of brown, almost black. To be this intrigued by a stranger- it made you slightly uneasy.
“I’m glad I could be the one to change that then, Steven.” He smiled, a charming, handsome smile. You could feel a blush rising up your neck, trying to avoid his eye contact.
“Where are you going next?”
“No clue. I don’t have any plans to be honest with you. If anything, I’ll just keep driving until I find something worth going back home for.” He stared longingly out the bistro window. “So, tell me Y/N, why stay in the city if you hate it so much?”You paused, contemplating his question. It was apparent really, lack of money inhibits you from doing much. You weren’t about to admit your poverty to him though, “I’m not sure what else to do.” The answer was short, but true. Just not the full truth. “What’s stopping you?” Steven questioned. His eyes boring into your own, he sat back in his seat, arms folded across his chest, a small grin plastered on his face. “My job, my rent. And the simple fact of where would I even go?” Once again, another half-truth. Steven hummed to himself. “Anywhere. You can go wherever you want.”
“No I can’t, Steven. ” You answered, half laughing at how incredulous and unrealistic his statement was.
“Sure you can! I’ve been talking to you for, what, nearly an hour? I can easily say you would be a great explorer Ms. Y/N.” His smile was so infectious, the pair of you sat in silence for a moment before he looked at you, a twinkle in his eye. “Why not come with me?” He leaned across the table, a full grin on his face now.
“Steven that’s insane, we literally just met!”
“And look how well we get on together! You gave me fry bits, I know we’d be an amazing team.” You shook your head, looking everywhere but his eyes. How stupid was this? A man you’d never met before, talking about going on some crazy adventure together… You looked around for a change of subject.
“Do you miss Beach City?” You questioned him gently, you were incredibly intrigued by him. He was so interesting.
“Everyday.” He answered, the corner of his lips rising in a sad smile. The waiter groaned from behind the reception desk, throwing his hands in the air before stomping over. “Listen love-birds, I want to get home and go to bed. Time to pack up! Im closing with you in or out.” Steven smiled awkwardly nodding, “We’ll leave immediately, thanks for your hospitality sir.” You watched as he laid a generous tip on the table before standing and offering a hand to you. You took it, albeit hesitantly and slid out of the seat. The pair of you walked to the door, arm in arm. “Where to next?” He asked, smiling down at you. You could feel the butterflies in your stomach, gripping his arm that little bit tighter you took a very deep breath.
“Anywhere.”
★☆★
The pair of you had traveled across the states and beyond in Stevens little Dondai Supremo. An unlikely and unique beginning yet it was one you wouldn’t change for the world. Your relationship had begun as a friendship and eventually transitioned into a blossoming, loving relationship. Steven was unlike any partner you’d ever had before, so kind and doting. Constantly checking on your well-being and safety. Over the past two years of your relationship he had educated you on his past, his Gem family. His own Diamond Authority. It was hard to believe at first, but the rose quartz gem glistening in his navel every time he took off his shirt was hard to ignore.
“Are you excited?” He asked, the pair of you snuggled in the back of the Supremo. The back chairs folded down to open the trunk into a makeshift bed. Beneath the blankets with scarcely any clothing, your legs were entangled. He draped a lazy arm over your torso, nuzzling into your neck.
“I’m nervous. Meeting your dad, the Crystal Gems. It’s slightly nerve wracking, love.” He chuckled, kissing your shoulder.
“Don’t worry. They’re going to adore you, starlight.” He caressed your side lovingly, humming a tune into your skin. “My dad will love you and the Crystal Gems are going to be so excited to finally meet you.” He pulled you close, turning onto his back and placing you on his chest. “Pearl will be so happy to organise a wedding-“ He placed a kiss on your cheek. “Amethyst will only love to build the ceremony with Bismuth-“ he said as he kissed your other cheek “And Garnet will only love to officiate it. Peridot will probably play flower girl again.” He chuckled, wrapping his arms around you and hugging you tight. “You have nothing to worry about, starlight.” You lay down on him, resting your head right beneath his chest. You smiled, when he talked of the two of you getting married you couldn’t help but feel those same butterflies from when you first met.
“I hope you’re right Steven.”
Steven parked the car before a set of wooden stairs, stairs that led to a beach house perched into a cliff face. Upon closer inspection you noticed the carvings of a… woman? No, a gem. Steven caught you staring at it and smiled. “That’s Obsidian. She’s what I and the Crystal Gems fuse to be. She represents us.” He let go of the gear stick and picked up your hand, bringing it to his mouth and kissing it softly. “Don’t worry, okay? They’ll love you.” He gave a reassuring nod before getting out of the car, you followed suit. He came around the car, grabbing your hand and guided you up the stairs. You had to admit, Beach City was beautiful. It perfectly encapsulated everything Steven was and is.
He stopped before a glass pane door, you were standing a little to the left, out of sight. He wanted to introduce you, since the gems had no idea you were even there. You heard hurried steps and the door swing open. “STEVENNN” A woman’s voice cried out, sobbing sounds following close after.
“Welcome home, Steven.” A silky, sultry voice came through.
“Welcome back buddy!” A voice rougher yet still sweet.
“Hey guys, I’ve missed you all so much.”Steven sounded like he was crying, along with the rest of the entourage. They hadn’t seen each other in years. “Steven you’ve changed so much! Look at you! You’re so much taller and- and stronger?” Steven chuckled. “I grew up Pearl. Not as tall as Pink Diamond me or as buff but, I’m coming close I think.” The raspier voice cackled, you guessed that was Amethyst. Steven had explained she was the one closer to your age group, by a few thousand years…
After the tears and cry’s of joy began to settle, Steven cleared his throat. “Everyone, there’s someone I’d like you to meet.” You could hear his footsteps backing up out of door. You turned to your left, he was there with his arm outstretched, fingers splayed and ready to guide you in. You took a deep breath, slowly yet trustingly interlocking your hand with his. When you were in view of the Crystal Gems, their jaws dropped. “Everyone-“ Steven took a breath. “This is my girlfriend, Y/N.” The tallest, which you presumed to be Garnet began to smile almost maniacally. She held her hands in front of her, she looked as if she was really restraining herself from jumping around the room. The small purple gem, Amethyst continued to make a gasping noise. You looked to Pearl who was indeed, still crying. “Hello everyone, it’s very nice to meet you all!” Your greeting seemed to shock them back to reality. They pulled the two of you into the house, Amethyst pushed the pair of you onto the couch.
In almost unison they demanded that you tell them the story of how you met, where Steven has been etc.
So you did.
After hours of conversation and story telling, everyone was relaxing around the sofa. Steven sat at the corner, you laying on his lap while he played with your hair. He ran his fingers along your scalp whilst answering the Gems questions. The sun was beginning to set and to be honest, you were getting tired. “We will go see Bismuth, Lapis and Peri tomorrow.” Steven yawned, stretching in his seat. “If you guys don’t mind- I think it’s about time Y/N and I get some sleep in an actual bed.” Amethyst and Garnet chuckled while Pearl was already on her feet. “I’ll go make the bed and clean the room! It’s probably all dusty and dirty from your dad using it- stay right here.” With that she vanished up the stairs before Steven could even begin to protest. You pulled yourself out of Stevens lap, his hand trailed down from your shoulder to your side. “Excuse me but, where’s the bathroom?” Steven pointed to a door over to the left. You patted him on the thigh before getting up and heading to the toilet. Closing the door, you did your business and overheard the conversation happening outside.
“Steven I am so happy for you. You deserve so much love and happiness. She seems so kind and sweet, the pair of you are destined to be together.” Garnet, how darling of her. You remember Steven telling you she could see the future, you wondered if she had seen the possibility of you. You made a mental note to get her a gift, something that spoke to both Ruby and Sapphire, as a thank you for her hospitality and kindness. In fact, you’d have to do the same for all the gems.
“For real dude, you found a good one. She’s super hot too so you’re extra lucky!” Amethyst cackled, after she settled Steven spoke up. “She was so unexpected. Meeting her in that diner I can’t even begin to explain the feeling I felt. I was drawn to her. I knew I couldn’t let her leave, I probably would’ve never seen her again.” You smiled, shaking your head. It was good to know you weren’t the only one feeling that way then. “Steven I am so proud of you. I hope the pair of you have every happiness in the world. She’s a wonderful girl, truly.” Pearl making her way back down the stairs and putting away what sounded like brushes and pans. “I plan on marrying her someday. I want to make her my wife.” You could hear Garnet squeal in delight and clap feverishly, the rest of them giving silent cheers. You decided now was a good time to go back out before you heard anything else.
“Alright, time to go to sleep.” Steven stood on the first step. “I’ll meet you up there Y/N, I want to make sure my dad didn’t leave anything embarrassing.” You couldn’t help but let loose a small chuckle, Pearl seemed blatantly disrespected in thinking she would ever overlook something as menial as that. The moment you opened up your mouth to say goodnight to everyone, Garnet trapped your shoulder. “Y/N. Thank you.”
“Garnet I should be saying thank you-“
“No Y/N. You saved Steven. I saw the possibilities of what he was intending to do that night in Electric City, and none of it was good. You rescued him from himself with that little act of kindness.” She grabbed your other shoulder now too. “We are forever in your debt.” Pearl and Amethyst nodded together eagerly. “If it wasn’t for you Y/N, we wouldn’t be standing here today, celebrating this moment.” Pearl looked down at her feet, barely able to make eye contact in fear she’d erupt into tears again. To think, over two years of being together and Steven never mentioned how he was feeling that night. Fate really does have a funny way of bringing people together.
“This was the best possibly reality, I may have saved him, but he saved me too. I was at the end of my line. We found each other at just the right time.” Garnet pulled you into a tight hug. Pearl and Amethyst stood nearby, ready to envelop you in one of their own the moment Garnet released you.
After saying your good nights and hugging them all, you climbed the stairs to find Steven already in bed, staring out the window in only his pyjama pants. You stripped, finding your suitcase and pulling on a large t-shirt. You climbed into the bed behind him, plying big spoon and hugging his back as he watched the waves lick the beach. “You’re family is amazing.” You whisper, pressing a kiss to his jaw. You felt him smile, he reached back to rub your hand. “They really are.” He turned around, pulling you into him. “I’m going to marry you someday, Y/N.” He smiled, rubbing circles on your back. “Make it a surprise.” You gave him a quick peck on the lips.
“I love you, Y/N.”
“I love you too, Steven.”

What would happen if you arrived at Stevens’ house only to find him collapsed on the floor?
((Steven Universe x gn reader))
//TW:: not eating, no sleep and fainting
Quick little imagine :)

You’d knock on the door, overnight bag in hand. You’d be looking down at your phone scrolling idly, not bothering to even look up and through the glass. How come he wasn’t letting you in?
You would glance up only to see Stevens foot and sandal near the kitchen. You’d call out his name, fumbling with the doorknob. You’d burst through the door the moment it was open, abandoning your bag on the porch.
You’d drop to your knees beside him, he’d be pale with large purple bags beneath his eyes. You’d pull his head up to your chest, bringing most of his weight into your lap, rocking back and forth. “Please be okay” Is what you would repeat over, and over, and over again.
He wouldn’t move or breathe, he’s completely silent and growing sickeningly cold. You’d be hysteric by now, sobbing, barely able to catch your breath. You’d screen for someone, anyone to come and help.
You’d hold his head close to you, one arm wrapped around his shoulders to prevent him slipping off of your lap. You would be curled around him, continuing to rock back and forth, massaging his head through his curls, whispering your pleas for him to wake.
Garnet would be the first one to arrive, she’d have seen the possibility already. “He hasn’t eaten or slept in days, I told him to go rest!” She would say, rushing over to you and crouching at your side.
“His human body is so weak, he must’ve collapsed from exhaustion.” Garnet would gently try to pry him from your hands. “Please, Y/N, I have to try get him breathing.” Slowly you would release your grip on him.
You’d watch as Garnet carefully, yet efficiently, undid his jacket and began CPR. It would be easy to see she wasn’t using her full strength, but as she counted you would hear her voice breaking.
Steven wouldn’t respond, still he was completely still and quiet. Garnet would groan in desperation, waving a hand at you to come closer. “Sit at his head and pull him into your lap, I’m going to shock him awake. He could throw himself forward so be careful.” She’d hurriedly rush over instructions while ripping his shirt in half.
You’d scurry to his head, gently pulling him to lay in your lap. “Please Steven, I need you with me.” You’d whisper, gently rubbing his cheek.
Garnet would rub her hands together, take a deep breath and press them to Stevens chest. An electric shock would jolt through his body, his eyes would flash open and he’d gasp for air.
“Steven!” You’d say, staring at him with a huge grin. He’d cough and smile. Looking around the room to see Garnet leaning against the kitchen counter with her head in her left hand, smiling.
“Was I out long?” He’d ask, you couldn’t help but give a small chuckle. “Only enough to make us think you died.” His eyes would widen and he’d look to Garnet.
“Thank you Garnet.” He’d say, she’d only pat his arm and respond with a “Welcome back.” Followed by a list of instructions of eating and sleep schedules.
He’d grip your hand, looking up so he could see your face. “And thank you, Y/N.”

Is it obvious the Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond saga is my favourite part of Steven Universe?
Tumblr media
It’s so much deeper than just surface neglect and her being a bad person. I could genuinely talk for days on her entire character, her development, what she did and the reasons behind them, the repercussions that followed. She is genuinely one if not the most complex characters in the entire series.
LET ME EXPLAIN.
Pink Diamond, the youngest diamond. Childlike qualities, innocent, playful and loving etc. Pink faces harsh parental figures (Yellow, Blue, White) at every turn. She is constantly shut down, shunned, locked away after her every attempt at love and kindness. The fact she had to resort to an entirely new identity to get them to listen to her should resonate with so many people. She didn’t feel strong as herself so she became someone else. Rose is as we all know, an extension of Pink yet she is everything Pink felt like she couldn’t be. Rose is brave, loving, kind, compassionate etc. She was what Pink wished she could be. She is who Pink truly was.
Rose Quartz, the rebellious quartz who erupted from the ground and started a rebellion. Not only is her character design flawless but she’s a literal war hero. She knew the only way to save gems and their entire fate was to create a safe haven on earth, her colony. The fact she broke away from her indoctrinated mold of the Diamond Authority and STILL managed to love? It’s incredible. Yes, gems were shattered. Gems and people suffered and reaped the repercussions of her actions. But the reality is, it wasn’t her fault that it happened, as coarse as that sounds. It’s incredibly unfair to blame her for the fall out. She only ever wanted the best for everyone. She conquered so many obstacles, she showed compassion to Garnet and many other gems. It can not be her fault that people suffered. She, as a leader, made terribly hard decisions which had an affect on everyone, sure it doesn’t make it okay but she did what was right.
She falls in love with Greg, probably not the first human who she got an interest in but he is the first human to treat her as a human, and that wooed her. Her love for earth grows even more after spending time with Mr. Universe, so much so she understands her time there is done. Infatuated with the cycle of life on earth, death and rebirth, she gave up her very being so her son could live. Is that not the very definition of a mothers love knows no bounds? She didn’t leave Steven to deal with her mess, she only wanted him to love and to live in a world of safety and kindness. How was she to know what the fallout would be of her actions? Does that make her careless or does it make her simply human?
Anyways, Rose/Pink for president.
