[Overset text: How do deaf Palestinians survive a bombing they can't hear?]
[Gaza. Oct. 30, 2023]
Walaa (interpreted by her son Mohammad): We were sitting happily, and then suddenly they were bombing.
[Mohammad is the eldest child in his family. He translates his parents' sign language to help them communicate with others.]
Mohammad: My father's name is Ahmed, my mother's name is Walaa, and I am Mohammad.
Walaa: We called all my family, where can we go? We were in the streets running and [we] are deaf, so no one can separate. We must all be together in a war that will never end.
Ahmed: It's difficult right now. Life is hard. The planes bomb us. We are deaf, so it scares us. There is no one to help us and [we] cannot hear. We ran away. We came to the hospital for our children.
Mohammad (signing to his father): What are you most afraid of?
Ahmed: Just the children, we fear for the children. It's ok for [us] to die. But we fear for the children. There is no one to help us. [My father] gets very tired, he can't sleep, his head hurts. He is deaf and tired. It is difficult for his children to think about dying like this.
[But their suffering is not limited to their inability to hear the bombing.]
Ahmed: [My younger son] is sick in the hospital, his tonsils and stomach hurts. He cries every day. At night he does not sleep because he has a fever and we have to put water on him. Don't be upset, don't be afraid.

Israel has cut water, electricity and food to Palestinians in Gaza. They are buying 10.000 M16 rifles and plan to distribute to civilian settlers in the West Bank to hunt down Palestinians. They're bombing the only way out of Gaza through Egypt, after telling refugees to flee through it, and have threatened the Egyptian government in case they let aid trucks pass through. Entire families, generations, are being wiped out and left to wander the streets hoping they don't get bombed.
Palestinians are using their last minutes of battery to let the world know about their genocide and are being met with a wall of "What about Hamas? What about the beheaded babies? Killing children on either side is bad!" even though the propaganda claims have been debunked over and over again. How cruel is it to ask somebody to condemn themselves before their last words? Or before grieving the loss of their entire families? When there's no such disclaimer to Israelis even though their government has shown over and over genocidal intent? Like who are you even trying to appease? What will your wishy washy statement do against decades of zionist thought infiltrating evangelical and Jewish stablishmemts?
Take action. Israel will fall back if public opinion turns its tide. The UK fell back on its bloody decision to cut aid to Palestine under public scrutiny. The USAmerican empire spends $3.8 billion dollars annually solely on this proxy war while its people suffer under a progressively military regime as well. News outlets are canceling last minute on Palestinian speakers while letting Israelis tell lies unchecked. Palestinian refugees are being targeted in ICE establishments and mosques are already being hounded by the FBI. France and Germany have banned pro-Palestine protests, while Netherlands and the UK have placed restrictions . You have the chance to stop this from turning into repeat of the Iraq war.
I want to do something but there's hardly anything for me to do from Brasil besides spreading the word and not letting these testimonies fall on deaf ears. I'm asking you to do this same ant work from wherever you are.

those who are too scared to choose a side keep recycling lines like "children are off limits" and "protect children" as if we don't all agree but
i'm here to tell you that in the span of one week, israel had murdered 700 palestinian children (this number is only expected to keep rising)
israel had cut water off every child in gaza which exceed 1000000 in number
cut electricity and fuel off hospitals that care for children and infants
it has rendered tens of thousands of children homeless
families are rationing water portions
children are writing their names on the palm of their hands so that they would be identified when the shelling happens and they're pulled from under the rubble
the situation in gaza can only be described as catastrophic
but sure go ahead and wish ~peace on both nations~ you fucking detached weirdos

Saying that Sydney and Carmy have strictly platonic or sibling/friend energy is crazy considering they don't even have the courage to hang out outside of work because they KNOW their dynamic is going to change when they do.
That's why Carmy took Syd to his apartment to work and stopped doing it once he got with Claire. BECAUSE IT WAS NOT ABOUT WORK, IT WAS ABOUT SPENDING TIME TOGETHER WITHOUT THE RISK OF GETTING TOO PERSONAL. You can sense a little fear every time they talk about personal stuff...like we're on the verge of something. If they went on that food tour it would be too powerful tbh I understand why Carmy got the easy route.
Friends are not afraid of talking about normal things and platonic relationships can't start with eye fucking when you first meet, yea? If you watched the table scene and still think this is platonic idk what to say to you. If you're watching this and not seeing what's happening in your face that's on you
