seymour was in the right, actually
i've been in the little shop of horror tag recently, and there's a lot of people saying there that seymour deserves the tragic stageplay ending because he murdered people, and the only reason he got a happy ending in the movie was because the movie downplayed his guilt. and the movie did downplay his guilt, but.
imo, seymour was 100% justified. is the plant a metaphor for capitalism- selling others out for your own gain? maybe. but seymour only fed it two people- orin, the sadist who was physically and sexually abusing his girlfriend with no remorse; and mr mushnik, who adopted seyemour emotionally abuse, neglect, and exploit him all throughout his childhood and adulthood.
i love the original movie ending, it's insane and wonderful. but i also like the happy ending, i like seeing seymour and audrey happy. i like that seymour gets to kill their abusers and then live happily ever after.
