i make a lot of posts to the tune of "you're allowed to be horny btw" because it's becoming increasingly clear that adults being sexual in (clearly marked and blockable!) spaces is being stamped out and made out to be evil both legislatively and in the moral zeitgeist, especially among younger folks. not even in the "wait to be a horny adult online when you're An Adult" way, just an ingrained puritanical outrage response to *anything* that isn't chaste wholesome perfect all-ages allowed. it's unnerving and scary.

the thing i think the writers got right about the garzona's situation is that it didn't matter if jason did it or not, it mattered whether bruce believed he did or didnt do it.

whether, he did or didnt do it is irrelevant to jason because for him it's a giant who gives a fuck. it's me or the stranger; why are you constantly picking a stranger over me? that's where the anger is, that he told bruce, "i didnt do it" and bruce refuses to acknowledge that as true. it could be a bold faced lie (i dont think it is but not the point) and it still hurts that bruce cares for this stranger more than him. not to mention a true blue scumbag of a stranger.

cuz if you're willing to believe any random piece of shit on the street, then how much could i POSSIBLY mean to you?

and bruce is so used to being put first, where his comfort and beliefs come first that he doesnt see it as a choice, as putting a stranger over his kids. for him, he's just disappointed they didnt do the "right thing" aka what he wanted/expected them to do. even if that "right thing" is completely out of their control, even if it means great bodily harm to them. they're supposed to be better than that because 20+ years older than them bruce is "better than that"

bruce refuses to be beholden to his kids and their relationships take hit after hit after hit because of it

Bruce hates when Jason says something like "you are not my real father" because a) it does hurt b) when Alfred tries to comfort him, he reminds Bruce about the times he said the same thing to Alfred himself but didn't mean it, and Bruce wants to sink into the ground.

Had a dream where Cass was trying to connect with Jason and was like hey we both know I'm never going to be OK with killing but one time I broke Joker out of Arkham just to call him a talentless unfunny loser and punch him in the face do you want to do that again. And Jason was like sigh. Yeah sure.

And then Bruce came along to stop them while they were beating him up and Jason was like hey asshole this guy literally murdered me, doesn't regret it and would do it again with more kids for extra carnage. I'm breaking his fucking kneecaps to bond with my sort of sister. This isn't about you.

And Bruce was like >:( but Cass was like :) so he backed off and trusted her not to let things go too far.

And in the end they put the Joker back in Arkham minus a few teeth because Jason couldn't convince Cass to kill him and wasn't interested in doing it himself in that moment. It was never really about the Joker in the first place.

Not saying I want this to happen in canon or anything but in terms of batfam dreams? Not bad.
