(after the events of persona 3 but no door fate for minato, he just randomly disappeared or something, and reader never thought he’d return) reader and minato were in an established relationship before his disappearance, when reader sees him again, they’re shocked and emotional and stuff and minato comforts them and hugs them

Sometimes it's impossible not to think- to consider- that Minato is out there, somewhere. He didn't die. You know he didn't die. Because he promised he was alive, when the rest of you were panicking in the aftermath of "victory."

Because even though he had disappeared, he had to be somewhere.

But it's been years, and while no one has given up, they aren't actively looking either. You can't blame them, but you also can just move on. You loved Minato. You still love him in spite of how long its been. And he loved you. It just wouldn't feel right to let go. Even if your hope of seeing him again has long since wanned. You still find yourself wandering back to Iwatodai and Tatsumi Port Island, sometimes. Walking familiar streets. Remembering outings with Minato. Dates snuck between all the other things keeping him busy.

It's like you can hear the call of your name in his voice, if you let your mind wander enough.

So it's reasonable you think you've imagined it, when you hear your name. Close your eyes and refuse to turn around. To face the empty reality. You've spent too much time getting your hopes up to see him again. And yet a hand carefully grasps your arm. Your eyes shoot open and land on him.

On Minato.

In front of you. Real, alive just like you knew he was. His hand is slightly cold, when it lowers to tightly grasp your own. You have so many questions. Where's and why's and how's. But all that you can manage is, "Minato?" Before the dam breaks.

Surprise and relief mix with all the pent up worry.

"Hi," he says, simply. As if no time has passed. Your vision blurs as tears well up. Youve missed him so, so much. "I'm sorry."

"I thought U- I'd never see you again!" Maybe you should be mad at the lack of answers, but you can't bring yourself to be when the person you love most has returned to you. Any other words you try to choke out are muffled when he pulls you closer.

Minato's arms wrap around you. So tightly you realize he hasn't seen you in just as long as you haven't seen him. You return the embrace. Cling to Minato as if you can hold him tight enough to make up for lost time. Or prevent this from ever happening again.

"I am so sorry." Minato's voice is soft, but rough from clear disuse. So achingly familiar despite that. Warm in a way so distinctly him. "It's okay. I'm here."

"You're here." Echoing the sentiment makes it feel more real. He's here. Minato is really here. In your arms. And while you still have so many questions, that's really all that matters.

One hand rubs up and down your back. A comforting motion. Minato tightens his hold on you. It'd be uncomfortable were you not doing the same. Clinging as tightly as possible.

"I love you," Minato says, just loudly enough to hear. You shift jus enough to look at him and return the sentiment. He smiles at you, all warm comfort. "I won't leave you again."

Sure thing! this post ended up looking way longer than I thought it was...

Lets address how he acts upon it first starting, first:

Well, you certainly will have to initiate it, at least in any official capacity.

Shin is a mess, he does not have the courage to bring it up himself.

If it was something you proposed to him as an idea, he probably was severely hesitant

Like: "they want to do that with me, and they aren't even romantically interested? That can't be right."

That's not to say he wishes you were interested, because if he did want a romantic relationship he isn't quite self-sabatoging enough to say yes to this, but that he's just kind of...confused about it

And nervous to boot.

Seriously Shin overthinks to a critical degree. What if this causes problems? Really needs to be sat down and told to chill out. That it's just a casual thing, he doesn't need to overthink it.

If he's really the worried he could just say no. But he doesn't, so you know he's overthinking, and not just uncomfortable with it.

If it was something that just kind of happened, and then you went "Hey I don't want this to mean anything else" he's probably still just as nervous, but the fact it started by actually happening at least removes his worries he'll somehow disappoint you

Either way he will eventually chill out about it, once he realizes it isn't turning into any of the possible nightmare scenarios he thought up

Once that's out of the way:

Outwardly pretty confident about the whole thing. Is very casual about "Oh you want to do that now? Sure yeah I'm free"

Inwardly he bounces between, "this is casual and normal and I'm fine" and "I need a full business day warning before we do anything"

None of that is to say he is in any way against, or dislikes the arrangement. He actually appreciates the no-strings-attached thing. Being able to engage with someone intimately without needing to overthink what that means for his relationship with them is actually something he enjoys quite a bit

He's just not used to it. Probably pretty low on other, previous experience. Thus he doesn't have as much confidence in being a good "friend with benefits"

His biggest worries going in, however, we're not related to experience or lack thereof.

They were that A) he might develop more serious feelings due to the intimacy of it, or B) you might.

And that either would happen onesidedly.

The more you sleep together, though, the more the realization that neither seems to be a problem sets in, and he seems to relax more. Gain some actual confidence surrounding it.

Eventually returns to completely normal around you outside of those specific moments.

Teases occasionally about you initiating things, as if you don't have just as much to tease him about. This only happens in conversations between just you two, of course, but the longer it goes on the more this becomes real, friendly banter and less him covering for his lack of certainty.

Overall: takes an adjustment period but he becomes pretty good at being a casual intimate partner, no strings attached.

Probably still a little jealous if you go on to pursue someone else romantically. Though that may just be general attachment issues related to being friends, rather than because of this specifically.

And he won't ever mention it because he knows it's ridiculous to feel that way when he doesn't even want anything different with you.

Shin is not very experienced. Full stop: he has not been with many people, if any, sexually.

So obviously casual sex is not something he's super prepared for initially. More likely to just follow you lead than anything else.

Depending on how close you were before this started he either embodies pre-game Shin: submissive, 100% following your leas

Or he's so on guard about the whole thing that he needs some control or he won't be able to go through with it.

Simply letting him be above you- whether he's giving or receiving- will fix that problem. At least until he chills out about it

As this arrangement goes on, however, he gains more confidence. Both because he's gotten more used to the idea, and because he's gotten more used to sleeping with you, specifically.

Shin is a switch, but no matter the position he's 100% faking confidence.

Finds it difficult to just go, "hey, want to have sex?" at random.

Yes this is a casual relationship. No that does not mean he suddenly became spontaneous. He'd rather have some forewarning.

You may not be interested in him romantically but you're still close enough to enter this relationship in this first place, so he at least wants time to make sure he's not in any way gross.

He will probably still accept random offers, unless he's got something important to do, but he would prefer some warning.

If you initiate things more with action rather than words, he's always so flustered about it.

Especially because the effects of arousal hit him far quicker than he'd like to admit.

Admittedly I don't know what to say about him in a NSFW sense that's scenario-specfic beyond that, so here's some general stuff to make up for it:

His sex drive is not that high. He isn't very likely to be the one bringing sex up, unless he's already worked hp. Sexually or with frustration.

Despite that, like I said, he does get into things really quickly once it's started, even with his relatively low drive. It takes all of a minute for him to be hard but he will not acknowledge this fact.

Good with his hands! Probably the most common form of teasing you'll receive when he's feeling confident- or pretending to be- is about how you've enjoyed what he's done with his hands/fingers

Probably far more confident about them too. He is very effective at giving pleasure with his hands, if you let him.

Noisy but it's rarely ever actual words. Shin is at his least coherent when having sex. A tiny amount of stimulation and his ability to speak is gone. Especially if you're more dominant.

You guys are polar opposites of each other

When you heard that there is going to be another student coming to the dorms, you were excited. Another person to talk with!

You were the one who showed him his room and gave him a tour around the school. Majority of the walk, you talked and talked.

He mostly stayed quiet throughout your conversations. It is not unusual considering that is how he is with other people.

When he hangs out with you, you always take him to social places. If there is a social event going on near the dorms or schools, you always go there.

You always give Minato an option to go to these places or not, you don't want to burden him.

If he does agree to go with you to a social event, you are overjoyed.

You go to many different social events, so every time you hang out with Minato it is always something new.

One time you two went to an event where there are dancing and music. You are kinda bad at dancing. You don't mind. Minato begins to dance with you. You smile brightly as you two dance and have fun with you.

If he notices that you are strangely quiet, he will help you whatever you are going through
