“If a society puts half its children into short skirts and warns them not to move in ways that reveal their panties, while putting the other half into jeans and overalls and encouraging them to climb trees, play ball, and participate in other vigorous outdoor games; if later, during adolescence, the children who have been wearing trousers are urged to “eat like growing boys,” while the children in skirts are warned to watch their weight and not get fat; if the half in jeans runs around in sneakers or boots, while the half in skirts totters about on spike heels, then these two groups of people will be biologically as well as socially different. Their muscles will be different, as will their reflexes, posture, arms, legs and feet, hand-eye coordination, and so on. Similarly, people who spend eight hours a day in an office working at a typewriter or a visual display terminal will be biologically different from those who work on construction jobs. There is no way to sort the biological and social components that produce these differences. We cannot sort nature from nurture when we confront group differences in societies in which people from different races, classes, and sexes do not have equal access to resources and power, and therefore live in different environments. Sex-typed generalizations, such as that men are heavier, taller, or stronger than women, obscure the diversity among women and among men and the extensive overlaps between them… Most women and men fall within the same range of heights, weights, and strengths, three variables that depend a great deal on how we have grown up and live. We all know that first-generation Americans, on average, are taller than their immigrant parents and that men who do physical labor, on average, are stronger than male college professors. But we forget to look for the obvious reasons for differences when confronted with assertions like ‘Men are stronger than women.’ We should be asking: ‘Which men?’ and ‘What do they do?’ There may be biologically based average differences between women and men, but these are interwoven with a host of social differences from which we cannot disentangle them.”

you're going about your normal day when, suddenly, surprise! you've been pokémon mystery dungeon'd!
unfortunately, due to budget cuts, the pokémon assigning quiz has been canceled. instead, you must spin THE WHEEL, assigning you a random, unevolved, non-legendary and non-mythical pokémon. you must now go on some sort of world-saving adventure as this pokémon. good luck!
tell me in the tags what you rolled, and how you feel about it - for bonus points, you can spin the wheel again for (or just take your pick of) a pokémon to be your partner.
bonus rules:
you're not shiny unless the wheel tells you you're shiny
take your pick of regional forms and evolutions (for example, if you roll vulpix, it's up to you whether that means normal or alolan vulpix)
apply whatever logic you like with regards to gender
have fun and be yourself!

A Pleasant Miscommunication - Cecilia's First Kiss
“You’re so lucky to have animals! They’re paws-itively perfect,” she cooed, encouraging your dog to shake hands.
“They can be fun,” you agreed as you shut the last of the chickens into the coop for the night. Cecilia had been visiting the farm more and more during her free time. You couldn’t blame her with Vesta pushing for an arranged marriage at home. You were getting ready to confess when Cecilia first arrived and explained her problem. Now, the timing seemed wrong. Especially when Cecilia said she wanted to marry for love. You loved her without question, but did she feel the same?
“Did you want to help with the cattle and sheep?”
Cecilia cheerfully agreed, following you to the field. You felt far more impressive than you rightfully should when she gasped in shock at how easily they began to shuffle into the barn when you rang the bell. You hadn’t done anything to teach the animals this behavior. You suspected Takakura trained your first cow before you arrived, and she had taught each new animal.
You proudly demonstrated how to brush each animal down and fill their food. Cecilia eagerly bounced on her feet, asking if she could try brushing an animal. You agreed, passed her the brush, and shifted to milking your cows for the evening. It would be dangerous if this became a nightly routine. You could too easily imagine how life with Cecilia would be this way. She needed a friend right now, not another suitor breathing down her neck. You moved to your horse to unsaddle him.
Cecilia had finished brushing the cows and stood holding the brush while complimenting one of the sheep. You smiled and walked over. You intended to gently take the brush from her hand without interrupting her conversation. As you neared, though, Cecilia’s eyes widened at your closeness. Before you could ask what was wrong, she boldly leaned forward and closed her eyes to kiss the corner of your mouth.
“W-what?” you weakly questioned what had just happened.
“Oh, I’m sorry! I thought you were going to-” Cecilia’s face flushed in embarrassment.
“Whoa, hey! It’s fine!” you quickly assured. “I was just surprised, is all. I didn’t think you’d want anything like that with everything else going on.”
“I’ve been waiting for you to kiss me for weeks, you know,” she pouted, kicking at the barn’s dirt.
“Should I make up for being so oblivious?” you grinned, the brush and remaining chores forgotten.

A Kiss for Luck (Marlin/Matthew's First Kiss)
You had been at the farm for about a year. The work had been an adjustment and struggle to grow accustomed to. The animal care had been relatively easy to grasp. You enjoyed your animals and loved their personalities. Raising crops had been an entirely different story. Initially, you received help from Takakura, but when your questions became too technical, he directed you to Vesta’s.
Vesta and Cecilia were kind and patient but began directing you to Matthew instead. You could not argue he wasn’t helpful or didn’t know his stuff. He just didn’t care for your feelings like the women did. Matthew bluntly pointed out the issues with your fields and never held back his opinions on how bad your crop quality was. Eventually, you realized it wasn’t personal.
Matthew was shy and hid behind his bluntness like Nami hid behind an air of disinterest. If you could befriend the redhead, you could befriend Matthew, too. A year into improving crops and relationship later, you still didn’t feel like Matthew cared anything for you. He never had that softness in his gaze that he held for Ceci. It was okay, though you convinced yourself. Your hard work had shifted his complaints over your crops to compliments, which was enough. Now, you were advancing to grow hybrid crops.
“Are you even listening?” Matthew interrupted your thoughts.
“Of course! I wouldn’t waste such an opportunity after being admitted into your sacred greenhouses,” you nodded, flashing the man a smile. From how his brows slightly furrowed and the corners of his mouth dipped, you could tell he was skeptical of how truthful you were being.
“Fine, that’s everything for now,” he muttered, ushering you toward the door.
“Awww, no kiss for good luck before I’m thrown to the wolves?” you teased.
The words had slipped out before you thoroughly thought them and their consequences through. You went too far, you realized, as Matthew froze, his body growing tense. Maybe you weren’t as okay with him loving Cecilia and ignoring your interest as you thought.
“Hard work is what got you here, not luck. You shouldn’t depend on such a worthless concept,” he lectured.
“Yeah, you’re right,” you pouted.
Rather than continue herding you from the greenhouse, Matthew shifted his weight, hands shoved deep in his pockets as he seemed to think something over. You needed to stop this. Your feelings would make things awkward, and you still wanted to be able to come and see him. As you forced a smile and prepared an apology, Matthew hesitantly spoke.
“I guess I can help if that’s what you feel you need to grow hybrids,” he mumbled. Hesitating only a moment, his hand reached toward you. His rough palm came to rest against your neck as his thumb angled your face to his. Swiftly, he pressed a kiss to your lips before pulling away, his face a bright red that matched your own.
“There, a kiss for luck,” he motioned for you to leave the greenhouse, avoiding looking at your beaming face.
