Sony had also presumed that Sonic would be fine… Well.. Mostly she thought that because if she could handle them, why could he? He was her alternate, after all.
As Tails took a hold her wrists (which of course, she gripped back onto his as well), which pretty much lifted her up and flying away with her…. Sony glanced up at him and tried to respond, since it was always a little tough communicating while they were ‘flying’.
“Uh.. Kinda?… “ she paused, taking a moment before glancing around their surroundings as she towed off.
“Where are we goin’ Tails? “
Tails opened his mouth and shut it, repeating this process several times. It was hard to word what he wanted to put out. There were just a lot of things going through his head at that moment. His scrambled mind was frantically trying to hitch onto one of them.
“Just be honest- how are you feeling? Like, feeling feeling? Anything feel off?” Tails felt pretty insane alluding to what might not be there.

Tails threw some glances back at his workshop as he and Sony rose into the air, the fox holding onto Sony’s arms. Apex hadn’t decided to follow them it seemed, so who knew what plans he- let alone the others- had. He should probably head back, in all honesty, but any alternate of Sony could handle them... Okay, well, that’s what the positive side of Tails said anyway.
The sound of Tails tails spinning like a rotor accompanied his next question as his eyes drifted from his workshop to the hedgehog below him. “Uh... You alright?”

[ ✪ } - Sonic couldn’t help but laugh at Tails’ enthusiastic reaction to bumping into him. He couldn’t really blame him and granted he was just as happy to see his best buddy after a while as well. “Yeah, I know whatcha mean!” A smile appeared on the teen’s face. “You’re going to this school too?! Dude, that’s awesome! We’ll be able to hang out a ton more now!”
In recent years the two had grown a little further apart. Not that it was intentional, they just couldn’t find as much time as they used to. But with the two of them attending the same school, that was bound to change rather quickly.
Tails opened his mouth to say something else, but the bell decided to interrupt- of course that was only the warning bell, they weren’t late just yet.
“Crud- Uh, I gotta jet! I’ll catch you later, right? M-Maybe we can hang after school? What are you doing later?” He was really cramming for time. But all those days of racing Sonic way back when gave him a good enough advantage over the clock.

[ ✪ } - Sonic spun around, returning a smile of similar excitement to the kid. Wow, who would’ve thought he’d show up here? No need to question it, it was just great to see him. “Yo, Tails! It’s been a while dude, how ya been?”
“I’m great! Awesome! Wow- it’s been forever. I mean, not forever forever, but you know, awhile! It’s so cool to be going to the same school as you! Aaahhh!” Tails was practically hopping up and down. The only reason he stopped was because of the odd looks he was getting from everyone else. There was somewhat of a change in his expression. Looks like his insecurity caught up to him the other side of the hallway. However, he still kept up the smile. It was kind of hard to be sad when your best friend came back into the picture all of the sudden!

The thought of the boys well being never once crossed his mind and just the moment after he had sent him flying Apex was back on his path… however he didn’t make it far before hearing the boys voice once again. Turning around yet again he watched the boy take arms against him… A white hot piercing glare met the yellow fox’s hand cannon.
“…” He had hoped to avoid hurting the boy… well at least to seriously. As far as he was concerned Tails had crossed that line… He wasn’t about to let his actions go unpunished and he would not be stopped.
“Make the first shot count. It’ll be the only one you get.” His tone was calm collected and above all cold.
Tails took a breathe. Every part of his body felt the effects of anxiety take place, but he had to control himself. Easy breathes. Controlled breathes.
The last thing we wanted to do was fire on Shadow, in all honesty. He’d do it, but he really didn’t want too.
“... We worked together once you know. You’re actually pretty smart... So please, think rationally. Calm down. You can talk to Sony in a moment. Please, just give them time...”
Tails knew why Apex was doing this, of course he did. It was his job- or a job he had taken up. So the next thing he said, he hoped would be the one to give Apex some sense.
“I know how you feel. I really do. Control your emotions. I’m begging you.” Because it was taking all of Tails control to not act the same way Apex was.

Normally Shadow would have admired the boys bravery… however there a carousal point where bravery turns to stupidity and now was that moment.
“A… disappointing decision” Shadow muttered under his breath expressing his disappointment as he turned to face the ‘blocked’ doorway. Marching with cold precision Apex made his way to the doorway reached out gripping onto Turbo’s chest and jerking him close. “Now be gone!” Using his unnatural strength Apex turned and attempted to toss the child clear across the room and through the window he knew roux was peeking through.
Tails was thrown aside about as uselessly as a used dishrag. His face crashed into the window, quite comedically honestly. Tails slumped to the floor, out of sight again from the bat and echidna.
Ugh... Was it really always going to be like this? His only shining moment was when he beat Eggman, but there was nothing like that again. He always needed help. Agh. He was so useless.
Sony.
Right. Tails had to get up to fight for Sony. Right.
A few moments passed, maybe giving a chance for Apex to start moving again, but regardless, Tails attached that one weird mechanically wristband to himself, before it expanded into his trusty hand cannon. He raised it, pointing it directly at Shadow.
“Apex. Don’t go up there. Please.” Tails would rely on his reflexes for this. If Apex even took a single step forward, the fox would fire. It’s good that throw put some distance between them.

All of his forward momentum came to an immediate stop at the sensation of Tails hand against his mouth. … this was baffling was everyone today UNAWARE HOW MUCH HE DISDAINED BEING TOUCHED. Yet all of raging fire in his eyes died all at once once he had heard the young boy words.
Blankly staring Apex followed Tails’ hand as it retracted.
“Since you gave me the information I was seeking. I’ll give you a head start…”
What? What was he planning? Surely... Surely he didn’t plan to do something to Sony and Blue?... Regardless... Tails couldn’t let that happen, even if he didn’t know what Apex was planning.
Tails stayed standing in the doorway, his gut turning inside out from anxiety as he muttered a word he thought he’d never say to Apex of all people.
“N-No.”

It wasn’t but two seconds after the door had locked that Shadows foot met with the front of the door knocking it clear off its hinges.
“I won’t ask again! What is everyone keeping from me!?”
In his panic, Tails wasn’t really thinking. He had gone as far as too put his hand over Apex’s mouth, giving him a begging look, hoping he’d just be aware something serious was happening.Quickly, Tails explained what was going on.
“An alternate of Sony is up there with her, and he just said... He, uh, liked her. Now, please get out before they come down!” His mind caught up to his actions, and he quickly moved his hand away from Apex’s mouth.
