The heart of KHR

I think the heart of the story of KHR comes with the thing that motivates Sawada Tsunayoshi, our main protagonist. And that is love.

Yes, yes, that always seems to occur in Shonen, but I would argue not in the same way! Tsuna's goal isn't to become something like it is for the majority of Shonen protagonists and their surrounding plot. No, he is actively trying to avoid becoming the 10th mafia leader of the Vongola. Time and time again he proclaims that he refuses the role.

So how come he keeps going? Why does he continue to move closer to that very thing he denies? That is where love comes in. Because from the start of the show, he has to be forced to be motivated. Petty things like his crush for Kyoko or his need to proclaim something is forced on him by Reborn and only when it is at the forefront of his mind does he get shot with the dying will bullet. In that state he is uncontrolled, unconscious in his actions in a way. It is only when the Kokuyo arc happens and the friends he made along the way get hurt does he become motivated on his own.

Here we get Tsuna who wants to protect the people he loves because he knows he is the only one who can. And for the rest of the series it is this need to protect those he loves that keeps him moving forward.

Where others expect him to want lackeys and subordinates, Tsuna asks only for friends. For family. He is a loving, kind boy who doesn't want to hurt people, even those who hurt him. That is why love is the heart of KHR. Because the main character embodies it and when told he will become another leader who walks in a legacy of blood and violence, his answer is that he will burn into ash in the name of those who were harmed. Because in a world where the mafia create war and injustice, he is just a normal kid who refuses to let these bloodthirsty adults hurt those he loves. Even if it means he has to fight when he never wished to.

Anyways, this was a fun ramble, hopefully I'm making some form of sense, lol.

tsuna is the patron saint of the mundane, of the normal and common place, of the average and unimpressive. he's the unshakable believer of that being enough in and of itself, of that being fulfilling and fundamental to achieve happiness. and he's the unyielding protector and defender of the beauty and love and kindness within the ordinary, of the holy and divine and sacred within it, and of them being worth fighting for.

tsuna's the guy who makes the ordinary extraordinary from the sheer way he holds it so very close to his heart like it's the most precious thing in the world, and it's the thing about him i, for one, love him most for

It really makes me happy to see him so Thank you again! And enma, i just found the heacanon of him and tsuna being best friend is so lovely and making me want to see them just having fun. Enma is such a cinnamon roll and considering his past, i want to see him happy. Or the hyper trio! They have a place in my heart, those three. The trio just taking out the todoroki children to have fun and maybe watch a movie.
