Every now and then I feel them breathing, moving through the room so quietly, just because you never hear their voices, don't mean they won't kill you in your sleep.

the truly creative mind in any field is no more than this: a human creature born abnormally, inhumanely sensitive.
to them… a touch is a blow, a sound is a noise, a misfortune is a tragedy, a joy is an ecstasy, a friend is a lover, a lover is a god, and failure is death. add to this cruelly...
Yes.

For years I would read during breakfast, the coffee stirring my pleasure in the prose. You can't surf during breakfast. Well, maybe you can. Now I don't have coffee and I don't eat breakfast. I get up and check my e-mail, blog comments and Twitter.

It’s not that my current life—or the life that is happening at this very moment—isn’t enough. Really. It’s just that I know something else is in store, or around the corner, or whatever. I feel so halved. So… in pieces? But, not in a sad, or awful way, more like a “you know better,” kind of thing. As I was careening—fuck it—”driving” down University tonight I realized something; something of absolute certainty. I. Am. Lonely. Not alone, or even lonely like you would imagine. And not like the loneliness you read about, either. This is, almost-twenty-five-wonder-if-i-will-ever-trick-someone-into-falling-for-me, kind of loneliness. That’s not right still, the way that feels as I read it back to myself is eerie. If I could rewind, or fast forward, or whatever it takes to get back to the way I felt last night; last night before I woke up and reality made me shave my face and wash my hair. Who are you? Seriously, what is your name, or favorite story? True romance?

Kind of makes the ironing board seem like a total hinderance to ironing itself. I might have just discovered a new favorite domestic chore—sorry, vacuum.

Ironing Techniques By Professional Craftsmen (via lonelysandwich)
Adam writes:
This short instructional film showcases unmatchably masterful ironing technique that we’d all do well to learn from, but it’s also one of the most absorbing, delicious demo videos I’ve ever seen.
And it’s absolutely true. This video scratches me somewhere I didn’t even realize itched.

And I think, for all of this stuff, to get out of this idea of saying, “Oh, it’s free money on the internet” and increasingly get more into the idea of, “It’s a way for me to become good at something I care about in public,” if you find a way to make money doing that, you’re going to live the dream. But if you just keep focusing to the money part of it to the exclusion of keeping your life in order or to the exclusion of actually getting great at it, it’ll get in the way.

Gilt on the iPad
I've been pretty impressed with what the team at Gilt put together having never used an iPad. It's quick, (Truthfully, everything is!) clean and functionally about ten steps ahead of their own site. In case anyones run into the black screen bug this morning, the solution is simple, thanks to Jesse at Gilt.
Thanks for getting in touch.  We've come across this bug as well and will have a fix in the app store very soon.  In the mean time, it seems like this problem will correct itself if you power your iPad off and on.
What's interesting is how that both never occurred to me and didn't happen naturally as the battery on this thing is unbelievable.

This Dutch site contains an archive of over 500 original designs by Wim Crouwel, most of which I’ve never seen before and that I think are some of his best. Pure brilliance. What’s even better is that there’s a sharp, hi-res version of each.
