The coronavirus Blog
I want to start a blog for people to talk about their hardships with the coronavirus. A place for people to get information not spoon fed or diluted by the goverment.
I am a small town mother from south east georgia. We are being hit more from public panic than the actual virus yet. In our area we have cases of the virus but so far its been one here one there. In savannah georgia, I think its been more prominet. Here in the smaller communities like millen, lyons, and reidsville georgia its been one case confirmed or rumors floating around.
One thing that has been very upsetting, is the groceries stores!
Im not sure about anywhere else, but here in our areas, its ridiculous!
In reidsville georgia, at the local harveys, customers took pictures and posted on facebook about hamburger meat being upcharged, at $5.00 a lb. Normally its around 1.99 a lb.
In millen georgia, at the local bilo, I personally found a ham priced at 89.00. Thats almost a hundred dollars for one ham.
At thrift way in lyons ga, They have a generic brand {Hy top} gallon of bleach priced at almost $5.00 a gallon. Normally this bleach is about 2.59. Then you find they are busting open toilet paper to sell it at $1.00 per individual roll. normally a 12 pk or even a cheap 24 pk of cheap toilet paper runs about 6.00. now being sold at $1.00 a roll.
I do not understand this. Signs posted everywhere about a nation working together, but we have grocery stores taking advantage of the situation and upcharging ridiculous prices for profit. supply and demand?
With half of the entire nation out of work, struggling with little or no income, how are we expected to survive paying such out rageous prices? How are we working together as a nation if the greedy buisnesses having us fighting each other for bare nessecities?
How are our elderly on fixed income, or families living paycheck to paycheck suppose to feed their families like this?
At this rate, whole families are going to starve to death, or be to weak to fight off the virus because we cant afford to even eat.
Im scared for each of us as well as this nation. I pray the president stops the grocery store from doing this.
