If I had a penny for every time I read an adult gothic historical dark fantasy novel with clear racism and class allegories, featuring an underprivileged lesbian of colour shipped to a foggy and mysterious coastal manor and tricked into being indentured as a handmaiden to a vampire/vampiric evil white woman, with blood drinking scenes culminating in toxic yuri sex, I would have two pennies. which is not much, but it's weird that it happened twice.
