What is going on with cutting posts?

You may have seen some posts floating around lately about the beta editor and trimming reblogs, and possibly found yourself extremely confused trying to figure out what this tangled web of editors, extensions, and add-ons even means. I’ve been on this site for years, and I still find the whole thing terribly confusing.

So this post is my effort to explain everything – legacy vs beta, New XKit vs XKit Rewritten, editable reblogs vs trim reblogs – everything. This also doubles as a tutorial for the various methods of cutting posts.

TL;DR

Tumblr is in the process of switching to a new post editor that some old users have opted into, while new users have been forced into it.

The old Editable Reblogs extension does not work with this new editor, requiring people to use a new extension called Trim Reblogs.

Trim Reblogs and Editable Reblogs are not compatible. If your partner uses Editable Reblogs, you cannot cut their posts properly using Trim Reblogs (unless you’re willing to do some tedious and frankly unreasonable workarounds).

The only way for everyone in the RPC to cut their posts properly and efficiently is if everyone moves to the new system and uses Trim Reblogs. Clinging to the old system with Editable Reblogs is actively creating issues for the people using the new system – some of whom do not have a choice.

ways to love | accepting.

              Blue hues were trained on the other as her voice filled his ears. Silence and drowning were the most accurate words to describe the divide between the pair as of late. Between taking over for Talon and the regular tensions they usually managed to work through, things became a distant mess. It was clear that the young blonde was finding herself between a rock and a hard place and Tristan himself didn't know what to do or how to help without feeling as if he was letting some other aspect of his life down. He knew he needed to be there for the club in a way he never needed to be before, the responsibilities on his shoulders making the world feel heavier. But he also needed to be there for the younger blonde and his children; to be a good husband and a father, things he didn't prepare himself for mentally when he was younger. It had him questioning his roles in life, within the life he had managed to create for himself. Was he a good father? A good husband? A good leader? Questions that traveled through his mind more often than not.

                                            ❝Sometimes drowning is the best solution.❞

              It wasn't the response she needed, wanted, or deserved to hear. But the pressure in his head felt as if it was killing him from the inside out. He loved her more than anything in the world but he could feel the stretching, the pulling of the ropes that connected them. How had they gone from something so magical and blessed to wondering if their life was going to make it through this rocky, unstable ground? He didn't know. It had him lifting a hand, rushing digits through messy blonde hair; his hand coming down to wipe over his face. Ignoring the slight sting when fingers came in contact with the bruise against his cheek — a familiar sight now. Bruises and cuts, something that showed evidence of something unholy. ❝I don't know what you want from me, Rem. I'm trying my hardest here.❞
