The Weill Cornell Medicine commencement was held earlier this month where a medical graduate from Gaza used his time on stage to condemn the university and its leadership for their complicity in the genocide on Gaza and implored his fellow graduates to stay true to their oath and stand with the hundreds of healthcare workers who have been killed by the IOF. In response the university have done everything they can to minimise this young graduate from speaking truth to power from his own graduation records by cutting away from him during the ceremony’s livestream and erasing his time on stage in the released footage.

Throughout the first five months of the war, both my big sister and my sister in law had been pregnant. They had to endure constant displacement and unspeakable horrors on top of pregnancy discomforts. The few times I was able to reach my sister, she would keep praying not to go into labor before that nightmarish reality ended.
Sadly, things did not go her way. The war was raging when she gave birth to beautiful baby Ossama, and it still is ongoing. Almost at the same time my brother and his wife had sweet baby twin girls, Ritaj and Rital. The three little angels are rocked to sleep by the sound of bombs and buzzing drones instead of lullabies. Due to the unsanitary conditions in their tent and formula scarcity, the newborns have been constantly suffering from acute respiratory infections as well as slow weight gain. The only medical care they were getting was that of an overcrowded field hospital with limited resources, and even that is now denied to them as my family has been forcibly evacuated again from Rafah to Khan Yunis where nothing is left but rubble.
As you may well know, many babies in Gaza are lost while waiting for consideration. The doctors previously insisted that the little ones would fail to thrive and fully recover if they stayed in the same unhealthy environment.
Despite everything, these babies are a source of hope and strength for us. Please don't let them fade away. My family is barely holding on for their sake and that of their older brothers and sisters.
We would be forever grateful for any kind of support.

The 2024 Gender Census is now open!

The 11th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 13th June 2024.
It’s short and easy, about 5 minutes probably.
After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.
If you think you might have friends and followers who’d be interested, please do reblog this blog post, and share the survey URL by email or at AFK social groups or on other social networks. Every share is extremely helpful - it’s what helped us get 40,000 responses last year.

Someone made an extensive google spreadsheet I've attached below (bless their hearts my gosh) -also don't forget to block Charlie Puth too and any other artist or actor you can think of. 'Influencers' are also NOT excluded from this. If I find a list with them I will post it but this includes every single one of them with a platform who have been silent. That includes the "let them eat cake" Haley Baylee who gushed about having 10 million followers after attending the Met Gala -all while Rafah was being bombed.
Also, on contrary to what was said above -I'm well past the point of caring about the feelings of celebrities and influencers. They should be publicly shamed because their priorities and moral compasses are broken -clearly. The ones who have spoken up, especially over the past 9 months, are the one's who deserve to be supported.
Also, I'd like this blockout to continue. This isn't something that happens for a week and then goes away if 'they do talk,' (Lizzo is the most recent example I can give when she said celebrities have no power then pulled a Rock and Oprah moment by asking her fans to help send funds to someone in Gaza instead of donating herself which she could very well have done -major side eye).

Sooooo, how'd you like it? I got to see it a little bit, but my eyesight is pretty bad so I tried to take pictures and it sort of worked
holy shittt, there was a massive solar storm and there’s supposed to be amazing northern lights tonight, and we’re currently out camping on the beach by the open ocean, the sky is clear, and there is zero light pollution out here. nothing has ever lined up so perfectly

I used to think that rap was all the same because the only rap I was exposed to was... to put it lightly, not good rap.
When I rediscovered rap as a genre (admittedly though a not super great white rap kid) I quickly branched out and found what I was looking for.
I found songs that rocked my perceptions of what music could be, I found a genre so flexible and expansive that it changed how I think about music. I developed a deep appreciation for the work it takes to make an actually good rap song. Listened to the oldies, the classics, the viral hits and the 1000 listens sleeper bops and everything in between.
I could write a fuckin thesis paper about what makes a "good" rap, but could never in a million years be able to do what good rappers do.
Sorry this is a lot to add to a post but I just feel really strongly about anyone completely writing off an entire genre of music, especially one with such complex history and such depth.
Like sure there's definitely "bad" rap (poor execution, lazy writing, overplayed subject matter, ect.) But there is so much good rap.
No joke, if you dont really like rap and want recommendations to try to appreciate the genre, I can totally find something for anyone.
"ooooh I don't listen to rap but it's not because I'm racist it's because [unironic statement painting the entire genre of rap as a monolith]" shut the fuck up. @ my fellow whites you have 24 hours to find a rapper you fuck with or I'm hunting you for sport.

As a rule of thumb, don't reblog donation posts or people asking for donations unless they've been vetted and reblogged by Palestinian bloggers. We usually go to lengths to verify this shit because we know scammers have been faking to get people to send them money, using the urgency of our genocide as bait.
It's disgusting this is what we're dealing with, but people are losing money because of some truly evil people out there.
Accounts don't just randomly spring up on tumblr without gofundmes while asking for someone to help them create a campaign. Fuck out of here with that shit.
