Honkai Star Rail: Revenge of the Preceptors

((Hey guys! I meant to make this post MONTHS back, but real life happened and I wasn't able to focus until now.

As a refresher, this post is a part of a series where I analyze part of the Vidyadhara high elder lore and try to make sense of it. I think this will be the last post on this topic for a while until Mhoyo decides to give us more info.

With out further ado, please enjoy my insane rambling's~

So, uh... Dan Feng is Anakin Skywalker exp.

No, no, I'm completely serious. Several months back Hoyolab posted this comic called the Tale of the Vidyadhara, it summaries Dan Feng's story as well and includes a few lore bombs. And I as I was reading I was struck as to how similar Dan Feng was to Anakin Skywalker.

Conceived of the force.

Chosen one meant to bring balance to the force.

A hero of the Republic, with almost unlimited force potential; who fell to the dark side and caused the near destruction of the Jedi Order. Bonus points for fighting with the council all the time.

So yeah, Dan Feng is Anakin Skywalker exp. But besides that, Mhoyo reviled two interesting pieces of information in this comic.

#1 There's a chosen one.

In the comic strips above we learn that Dan Feng was considered some kind of chosen one, someone who was supposed to endless hatching rebirth of his people. But what if I were to tell you that we've heard about the "chosen one" two different times before this comic was released.

The first time was during the main quest, when little past Dan Feng was talking to his teacher. (source)

The second time is in the Preceptor Assembly Chronicle Fragment (source).

At first I thought the chosen one was the high elder, or someone meant to become the high elder (especially with the Undestroyed Letter saying that Bailu was "not chosen by selection"). However, there seems to be some sort of chosen one thing going on. Which then begs the questions, is this a prophetic thing where it was foretold long ago? Or is this something the preceptors made up on the spot once they saw how powerful Dan Feng was at birth?

If this is some sort of prophecy then were did it come from, and who said it? I for one would LOVE to know which one of these bowling pins thought it would be a good to tell a child that they were destined to save their entire race from the cycle of rebirth. I'm sure that would cause no problems what so ever.

#2 High Elder Eggs.

Remember in part 2 I was loosing my mind over the high elder succession process? Jury is still out on that, but I think we may have an idea of how someone is chosen.

Earlier in the comic we are giving this lovely sentence-

It's talking about Dan Feng and how his egg bears the power of the high elder, and might become the next Imbibitor Lunae. Notice the wording here. They say his egg is different from MOST others, not others, but different from MOST meaning that it's special, but not that special. I feel like it's implying while it's not common, eggs do pop up from time to time with the power of the high elder. Now if there's any conditions an egg has to meet, or if there's any patterns that could tell us which egg will develop into an high elder; I don't know. We'll just have to wait and see what mhoyo throws at us.
