TASK: Rita Skeeter has arrived at Hogwarts to write about the Triwizard Tournament, and she’s eager for some drama! Anonymously send to this blog four rumours about your character. ‘The first task is designed to test your daring, so we are not going to be telling you what it is. Couragein the face of the unknown is an important quality in a wizard… very important…’

‘The first task will take place on November the twenty-fourth, in front of the other students and the panel of judges. The champions are not permitted to ask for or accept help of any kind from their teachers to complete the tasks in the Tournament. The champions will face the first challenge armed only with their wands. They will receive information about the second task when the first is over. Owing to the demanding and time-consuming nature of the Tournament, the champions are exempted from end-of-year tests.’

Penelope "Penny" Clearwater was a Ravenclaw student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who started her education from 1988 to 1994/95. In her later school years, she was a Prefect, and later Head Girl. She started dating Percy Weasley, but after she finished her education at Hogwarts, they didn't end up marrying each other. It is unknown what happened exactly with their relationship that made them not end up together. In 1992 the Chamber of Secrets had been opened, unleashing a "monster" that was hunting down Muggle born students. Hermione Granger deduced that it was a basilisk and ran into Penelope as she rushed to inform her friends. Penelope and Hermione made good use of Penelope's mirror to navigate the school hallways, but they looked the basilisk in the eye through the reflection of the mirror, petrifying them both. Penelope was eventually revived with a draught prepared from Mandrake roots, along with Hermione and the other victims.

Cormac McLaggen was a wizard and member of the McLaggen family, a family that's "big in the Ministry". He attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was Sorted into Gryffindor. McLaggen lost the opportunity to try out for his house's Quidditch team in his fifth year after he ate poisonous Doxy eggs on a bet, but then became the reserve Keeper in his seventh year. During the course of his last year at Hogwarts, he also became a member of the Slug Club. He was primarily responsible for the Gryffindor Quidditch team's embarrassing loss to Hufflepuff by hitting Harry Potter (seeker at the time) over the head with a beater's bat. McLaggen participated in the final battle of the Second Wizarding War and fought alongside the defenders of Hogwarts. It can be assumed that he survived the battle, as he was not listed among the casualties.

chapter two: the champions

November 1st, 1994 — It’s the moment the entire school has been waiting for. Halloween is over, and Professor Dumbledore gathers everyone after the feast to announce the chosen champions. The Triwizard Tournament is about to start, and the tension is palpable in the air. Without any delay, the Goblet of Fire lights up, red fire coming from it for the first time. 

Durmstrang’s champion is Viktoria Krum! The chamption for Beauxbatons is Fleur Delacour! Hogwarts’ champion is Cedric Diggory!

One by one the selected students stand up and walk away towards the trophy room, surrounded by cheers and applause. Everything seems to be normal, Professor Dumbledore is ready to give a little speech about the tournament and the Triwizard Cup - but suddenly, the unexpected happens. The Goblet lights up again, spitting a fourth piece of paper. 

Harry Potter!

Everyone knows the name, even the foreign students. The fourth year boy with glasses and a lightning shaped scar across his forehead seems terrified as he walks up towards the headmaster and the teachers. Everyone sees him disappear behind the tables. It seems like there’s a fourth champion in play. This year got even more interesting that everyone had initially thought. 

The in game dates will go from the night of November 1st to November 20th when the chapter about the first task will start. This section is longer than the previous one and it’s a good chance for all the players to wrap up the previous interactions and start new ones. From this moment on, second characters are allowed. The Tournament has officially started! 

Hello readers and players! We’ve been having an amazing couple of weeks here at Tournament HQ. I want to thank everyone for being so wonderful and I can’t believe how talented you all are. It’s been a pleasure to write with you so far!

I will be posting the second chapter of the roleplay tomorrow, and the plot will move forward. Old threads can continue, new ones have to start, and it’s allowed to modify the time of the current ones if it fits as well! This is a time to keep plotting and give direction to your interactions!

The other big news is that tomorrow all players will be allowed to take up second characters! So if there’s someone who catches your eye, let me know! The application process is the same it was for the first one. And if you’ve been lurking but you haven’t applied yet, this is your time too! There are a lot of major roles open and ready for you to roleplay them. Acceptances happen almost daily, and it’s as easy as messaging me and telling me who you want to play.
