/!\ What you need to know about Henna in general. /!\
As said in the description, henna is a plant used as a natural coloration for hair. It can color every hair, grey and white included but not in only one application.
But how do you use it?
Henna can have many uses depending on the color you want to achieve. For exemple, if you try to get a dark jet black hair, you might not use the same henna than a perosn trying to dye their hair bright red. Also, henna alone gives a reddish color. It can be really bright (if your base/natural color is light) or just some highlights (if your base/natural color is dark). Depending on how long you’ve used henna and the quality of it, your color can change from “a few highlights” to a full bright color. The most basic way to do henna is just adding hot water to the powder and mix until it is the consistency of a yoghurt.  If you’d like to have a tutorial on how to mix henna and what powders to use to achieve black, brown, red or blond hair, just ask!.
     2. The “henna myth” /!\
Henna have a REALLY bad reputation in some hair dressers. But why? As you may know if you use henna, the paste makes your hair healthier, shinier and more voluminous. so why would your hair dresser blame you for using it? That’s where the “henna myth” appears. If you’re a true henna expert, you’ll know there good and bad henna. The bad henna contains “SODIUM PICRAMATE” which is litteraly metallic salt. Why is it bad? Instead of gently covering your hair, the bad henna will open your cuticules just like a normal hair dye. That’s why the color you’ll get with bad henna is much more bright. You can tell if your henna is bad by looking at the ingredients written on the box. If you see “sodium picramate” next to “lawsonia inermis” (the henna) then don’t buy it!! It does not only damage your hair, but it also reacts REALLY bad before/after a normal hair dye which is EXTREMLY damaging for your hair. That’s why hair dresser hates henna. They just think all of them are bad. But it’s not true. There is a lot of henna on the market that are 100% Lawsonia Inermis that you can use right after a normal hair dye. The real problem you’ll get with all henna types, is that it is really hard to dye it with normal hair dye after because the henna “coat” the hair.
So if your henna is a 100% Lawsonia Inermis, feel free to use metallic ustensils or do it after your normal hair dye if you want.
    3. The neutral henna
Here’s a big lie. The neutral henna isn’t really henna. To be more precise, it is “Cassia powder”. Cassia is the same kind of plant as henna, natural and really healthy for your hair. It works the same way as henna, just add water until it looks like yoghurt. The neutral henna DON’T color your hair but with all the bad henna in the shops, just check the ingredients on the box. It should be written “Cassia powder” only! If you’d like to have tutorial on different recipes with cassia/neutral henna depending on your hair type, just ask!

Casual reminder that the “America is a nation of immigrants” rhetoric
a) erases Natives and their history
b) erases African-Americans and the history of the slave trade and
c) frames European settlers and settlement through a benevolent immigrant perspective instead of a violent colonialist perspective, which is another form of erasure and history revisionism.

9 Havasupai Native American children are suing the US Bureau of Indian Education
Nine schoolchildren from the Havasupai Indian Reservation in Supai, Arizona, filed a lawsuit Thursday against the United States federal government for providing them with an inferior education.
The Bureau of Indian Education is required by federal law to give Native children educational opportunities that “equal or exceed those for all other students in the United States.”
The suit alleges that BIE has fallen woefully short of that goal.
The only subjects taught at Havasupai Elementary are math, reading and writing.
It lacks any kind of system to teach special education students, which make up roughly half the student body, according to the complaint.
As a result, children with disabilities and behavioral disorders are routinely excluded from school activities, removed from classrooms, suspended, expelled or handed over to federal law enforcement as a result of their disciplinary issues.
Some are compelled to leave the school altogether and pursue education away from their tribal homeland (Havasupai Elementary is the only school on the entire 188,077-acre reservation).
The school is persistently understaffed, leading to unsupervised classrooms, longterm vacancies and schoolwide shutdowns lasting weeks at a time.
Havasupai Elementary doesn’t even have a functioning school library. The most recent data, from the 2012-13 school year, showed that its students ranked in the 1st and 3rd percentiles — on a median scale of 1 to 100 — in reading and math, respectively. That puts them in last place among schools operated by BIE. Read more
