When we say "Venom is gay" we don't necessarily mean homosexual. We mean "Venom is not straight". There's a difference. And no matter what dudebros say about Venom not being gay, they basically prove my point that Venom also isnt straight.
I'm tired of reading all these comments about "Venom can't be gay. He likes Anne!" Hell yeah he likes Anne. He says in the first movie "I like her". But the dudebros seem to forget that he also states That he likes Eddie too. He even says that he LOVES Eddie at the end of the second movie. So have these dudebros ever thought about the fact that Venom might like multiple genders or not care about gender at all (bisexuality and pansexuality, both part of the queer community, so that would make Venom LGBTQ+)
I also hear some people saying "Venom can't be gay, he's asexual". As an asexual lesbian myself I can tell you that your sexual desire has nothing to do with your romantic one. And when we're talking about Venom being asexual, we only mean the way he reproduces. He's an alien, we don't know how they work, he might reproduce asexual and still enjoy sex? (asexuality is also part of the LGBTQ+ community)
Another thing I also hear quite a lot is "Venom has no gender, he can't be gay". Yeah... sorry my non binary friends, you're automatically forbidden to be gay once you're born because the dudebros said so. (Clarification: you can be gay and still have no gender/ not fit into the gender binary. Not to forget that being non binary is also part of the LGBTQ+ community)
Last argument I often hear: "Who even cares about Venom's sexuality?!". Yes you're right, who cares? The dudebros apparently, since I see all of you complaining about it in the comment sections and filming 20 minute long videos on how Venom can't be gay. Just don't care about Venom's sexuality and enjoy the film... or don't enjoy it, depending on who you are.
Not to forget that in a lot of comic runs Eddie and Venom's relationship is very much a romantic one, and if you don't see it, you desperately try to deny seeing it. And if that's the case, maybe you should think about the fact, that you might not be as tolerating as you say you are. Because to a certain point it's just gay erasure, not wanting to accept the fact that the character you like might possibly be gay.
Thank you for listening, please excuse my bad English, feel free to correct me, if I said anything wrong and greetings from Germany.
Absolutely delighted to see film bros giving Venom 2 mediocre reviews, because "there wasn't enough Venom vs Carnage action" and "the movie focused most of its runtime on Eddie and Venom's relationship".
They seem so lost and confused about the fact that this blockbuster, superhero movie is just not for them. It's like their favorite toy was taken away from them and given to kids who actually appreciate it, they can't wrap their minds around their wishes not being taken into consideration.
The reviews say that the plot lacks purpose until the final act, that the screenwriters didn't know how to get to the fight with Carnage, that there's not enough Carnage, and it's like... no, Brad Jared Chad Jeremy Chris Josh Matt, that's not what the movie is about, Carnage is just a framing device for a story that further explores Eddie and Venom's bond.
Andy Serkis and Tom Hardy clearly said "This one's for the monsterfuckers, the weirdos and the queers", what's not clicking?
