Imagine Kaldorei shadowmelding when startled. Like you walk up behind your noof friend and go “boo!” And they just jump and go invisible.

Tolvras can’t help but laugh. He had been looking for her, but Pegmatia still managed to take him by surprise.
“Oh yes, they sold very well.” he says, taking a moment to try to dust himself off, only succeeding in moving the dirt around. Oh well. “Dragon-made gems are very novel, even for the markets we sell at, and I think the story part adds to the amusement. Or our customers were just good at humoring me.”
The elf settles down and sets to work getting a fire going. Redundant work considering a dragon stood before him, but Tolvras likes doing things for himself.
“Speaking of which, that’s why I’m here…” he trails off for a moment as the flames just start to lick the tinder. “A friend of mine is in need of a gem for a very particular reason. When he learned of the gems of yours I’ve brought back, he was hoping it could be one of his own.”
Once the fire is burning properly, Tolvras pulls his pack over and digs through it for a moment. “Oh, and I brought something for the whelps.” @outlandsdrake @rydanis @razxion
A Story for a Gem
Tolvras shifts the weight of the pack he carries as he makes his way through the Blade’s Edge mountains. The air is dry at this elevation, especially compared to the swamp that was Zangarmash, where he had been a few days prior. He knows there are more convenient ways to travel, but he prefers to make the trek on foot. He enjoys the wilds and the time alone to think. And he has much to think on. The request he’s bringing to Pegmatia is unusual, and he wasn’t sure if she would go along with it.
He can’t help but smile to himself as he thinks of his history with Peggy. He is fortunate that his first instinct tends more towards curiosity than hostility. So when taken by surprise by an equally surprised black dragon on one of his previous expeditions, his first response was to talk to her rather than attack. And it had paid off enormously. At first, he spent time with her because the novelty of a black dragon who didn’t want to kill him was too much to resist, but as he got to know her, he had come to see her as a friend.
His skin, clothes and hair are dusty by the time he reaches the area in the mountains that Pegmatia calls her home. He sets his pack down and attempts to clean up a bit, mostly in vain, before looking around to see if he can find the drake, or the dark-haired human form she sometimes used. He runs over the request once more in his mind, an undercurrent of worry, out of the ordinary for him, about the unusual nature of the request that brings him this far from home. @outlandsdrake @rydanis

Farelian Shadethorn, Part II
Farelian’s squad had been tracking the Naga for days. The information they had indicated that there was a new encampment that needed clearing out before they established too much of a foothold on the coastline. With an established presence on the coast, Elune only knows how far they’d spread. Farelian knew they had to prevent that, no matter the cost. He would give his own life if necessary to protect his people from the threat of the Naga.
And now the two forces clashed. The enemy encampment had been better fortified than they had been led to believe, and he had to admit that this battle was not going in the Kaldorei’s favor despite the elven soldiers efforts. He could see his brothers and sisters in arms, straining under the onslaught of the myrmidons and sea witches. His own arms and shoulders burned as he fired arrow after arrow, until he ran out. His muscles screamed in protest as he drew his sword, but he ignored the pain as he jumped into the frey, clashing blades with the nearest Naga.
He couldn’t say how long the battle had been going on when he feels something strike him from behind. He falls forward, just barely catching himself before slamming into the ground. Before he can get back onto his feet, however, a Naga that he could have sworn wasn’t there seconds ago already has him by the leg and is dragging him off to Elune knows where. He swears beneath his breath as he tries to fight back, swinging his sword haphazardly at the myrmidon, but the Naga is agile and none of his blows land. Farelian glances around desperately, trying to find anything that could help him when seemingly for no reason that he can see, the Naga drops him, slumping over lifelessly, two crossbow bolts protruding from its neck.
Farelian searches for the source of those bolts. He has little idea who could have fired, as far as he knows, no one in his unit uses a crossbow. His eyes land on a familiar figure, a Sin’dorei man with silvery blond hair and a patch over one of his eyes, and a grin that Farelian assumes must just be the man’s default expression. His eyes narrow.
“I told you days ago that you had until nightfall to leave.” he says.
“I got held up.” the Sin’dorei answers, turning his grin to Farelian.
“I… appreciate the help.” Farelian says grudgingly. He turns, surveying the battlefield. Several more Naga lay dead nearby, all bearing similar bolts, excellent shots all of them. He looks further out, trying to see how the main battle is going, and while he has difficulty making it out from this distance, it seems the tide of the skirmish was turning in favor of the Kaldorei. “I cannot stay. My commander will be wondering where I am.”
He turns back, looking back at where the Sin’dorei had been only to find he was no longer there, with no immediate sign of him in the foliage near the shore. Farelian stares for a moment, and decides a better use of his time to return to battle with the Naga.
