December 4 is a great day for French retro game revivals on Switch Its a weird, amazing coincidence, but after years (in one case, nine years) of roller-coaster development, two French teams are launching their vintage-inspired games on Switch on the same day, December 4. Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom began as a Wonder Boy-inspired Flying Hamster game by The Game Atelier then the Flying Hamster series connection was excised, the original Wonder Boy creator came on board, all the graphics and animation were redone, and now its a proper Wonder Boy sequel in everything but name. The hand-drawn 2D remake of Toki was announced in 2009 as a WiiWare/XBLA game (with a PS3 version possible as well) and has only now resurfaced, three Nintendo platforms later. And now, surprise! M2s M2-quality port of Phantasy Star is out now for $8, as is an Arcade Archives version of Double Dragon 2 and an ACA Neo Geo release of the very cute Twinkle Star Sprites. The real surprise, to me, is Atari Flashback Classics, out both physically and digitally. I hadnt been paying attention to it, and now its here and looks cool and is Flip Grip compatible and has 150 games on it??? Including some 5200 and arcade games? Including arcade Warlords????? Warlords, in case you havent been blessed with its presence, is 4-player Breakout in which each player tries to bust through the opponents defenses to destroy their bases. Its great. Switch FIFA 19 Players Are Not Happy About Promotion Of FUTmas Event

Right now, there's a Christmas promotion being advertised for the Switch version of FIFA 19 that allegedly isn't available within the game. This annual event - known as 'FUTmas' - allows players to participate in squad building challenges in the game's FIFA Ultimate Team mode and unlock special rewards. What has apparently got this small but committed community on Switch in such an uproar, is how this latest event is being promoted to Nintendo players, despite it being unavailable in this particular version of the game which is known for cut content. A reader who reached out to us via email explained how particularly rare player cards are essentially locked behind these events and while Switch players have supposedly been able to participate in SBC from time to time, often they miss out. They have come away extremely impressed by what Nintendo has achieved with the game from a technical standpoint with its locked 60fps and 1080p visuals. Heres what they concluded: In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate we have one of the best Smash titles ever made, and another brilliant addition to the Switch library. The ability to run it docked or portably with every type of controller imaginable with up to eight players makes this a perfect match for Nintendos vision of a truly versatile console. All of this runs at 60fps, with extreme exceptions, the Sakurai and his team can justifiably treat this as a series peak. Its a culmination of years of effort in character and stage design, every one affectionately finding a place on its menus. As a technical showcase for Switch theres nothing quite like it.
