Today I cooked dinner for my little family ❤️
I will never quite meet the dizzying heights of Ibbi's roast dinner talent (the man can do some pretty sexy things with meat and potatoes) but it doesn't smell half bad if I do say so myself.
Oh and tonight? Tonight I'm going to sit down with a glass of primitivo and write some more of the unfinished Kreids fic

writer truth & dare asks!
🥤: recommend an author or fanfic you love
oh there's so many (which is why i have a fic rec tag) but the one that immediately comes to mind is "Your Love is My Turning Page" by @tippedbykreider. like, it was the most poetic beautiful heartachingly stunning fic. i was at a loss for words and in tears by the end (but they were 100% happy tears)
🧸: what's the fastest way to become your mutual?
truthfully, there isn't that much of a formula! i think a lot of it comes from engagement but sometimes it just happens naturally! tumblr also makes it more complicated because this is a side blog so there are people that are 'mutuals' but not "officially" according to tumblr. so i probably have more mutuals than i think i do because of that!
🎲: what stops you from writing more in your free time?
right now, it's just existential dread (newly graduated things). but usually, it's capitalism - i mean, work.
❄️: what's your dream theme/plot for a fic, and who would write it best?
i don't have a specific idea but whenever i start to dream up alternate universes, i always think "oh Lauren (@ laurenairay) would probably kill this." she has such a knack for achieving the balance between giving enough information so you're immersed but not completely info-dumping and taking you out of the story.
🌿: give some advice on writer's block and low creativity
for writers block - the one i love is if you're stuck, go back ten sentences and read that sentence because that is usually where the issue is: you've introduced an idea too soon or the dialogue is wonky or something is out of character, etc.
for low creativity - it's a little cliche but taking a step back is the best way! or turn your creativity towards something else and that might help get your creative juices flowing. like, sometimes when I'm stuck in a fic, i'll make a playlist or a pinterest board for the story. that way, i'm still thinking about the story but i'm not staring in frustration at a word document.

I check your tumblr occasionally to see if you’ve updated your Kreider fic. But I know you’ve had so much upheaval in your personal life, so I have asked if you still work on it. People are out here who read your work!
This honestly means so much.
The past 13 months have been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. There's been some lows and some darkness, but there's also been highs and bright spots.
It's been pretty transformational, honestly. I'm so different now to what I was.
But I feel like I'm maybe ready to sit back down and finally finish the Kreider fic.
After that? Who knows.
Perhaps it's time to start something new ❤️

Your favorite writers have stopped updating, not returned from hiatus, or simply deactivated altogether, because they get no support.
If you're one of the people who goes to X writer's inbox and says "I know I don't reblog from you-" lemme just stop you right there.
We have lives. We have duties, things to do, responsibilities, because a big chunk of us are adults. It's okay that you have other things, that you're not always available, that you might be going through something and can't always read or reblog everything. Writers get that.
But no writer wants to see you tell them "Hey, I know I don't reblog from you!"
They know. They're in a slump for a reason. The reason isn't you not reblogging or supporting them, the reason is hardly anyone doing it.
And if you go to them and wave the "hey!! I don't reblog from you even though it's all you ask in return for your free work!" card, chances are, the writer will be upset. They can't very well point out how tactless you're being, because then they might just be cancelled or called out for being rude to you when you are deliberately being tone-deaf to their situation as well.
Like you, writers have lives outside. Writers have jobs, or are searching for them; they have worries, duties, things going on, worries, etc.
The difference is they sit for hours upon hours to write, while it would only take you between a second and a minute to reblog.
Reblogging is absolutely not difficult. Fast reblogging is incredibly quick and practical, but "slow" reblogging isn't slow either. You don't even have to add a comment to the reblog, an empty reblog is just as appreciated.
Supporting your writers is literally not difficult, and if you as a reader and as a consumer aren't going to do it, then it's totally fine if you choose not to. Your life, your blog, your choice.
But don't go at a writer to remind them "Hey I know I'm among the people who doesn't support you but I still like what you write" and expect them to be overwhelmed with joy without feeling the slightest tinge of resentment.
Likes do nothing!!!
If you're in the position to support a writer, do it. It's not hard.

The bond these two have is absolutely everything.
I always worried about how the cats would fare when I became involved with someone again.
When Jake left I especially worried about Gideon - because no matter how shitty Jake was to me, he was still Gideon's best friend.
The bond that Ibbi has forged with him, though? It's something truly special, indeed. I absolutely adore seeing them together and I love how much they love each other ❤️
