Links and resources for names
Name Resources!
Several years ago one of my hyperfixations was names, and I just remembered today I have several name sites bookmarked that would be excellent sources for naming sims! Some of these are not resources for accurate information, but that’s not necessarily important to me as I don’t play a historically accurate game or anything simulating real life.
Sites that are (mostly) based on research:
Social Security Administration - has the top 1000 names in the US and downloadable archives of names with at least 5 occurrences going back to 1880.
Behind the Name - names and etymologies from cultures around the world. There’s also a sister site for surnames (which I have the most trouble choosing for sims!), themed name lists, a random generator, and a database of user-submitted names.
Medieval Names Archive - authentic, documented names from many cultures during the Medieval and Renaissance periods.
Kate Monk’s Onomastikon - names from many varied sources recorded throughout history.
Surname Database - search for a surname or browse the Surname Index

I also have documents full of interesting and weird names I saved from a site that I used to frequent but left because of its members’ problematic behavior. It seems to have shut down because even people who’ve never been there get a message that their IP is banned. Weird. Anyway I will be going through those in the near future in hopes of finding some gems, and when I do I will probable share.

Congratulations!
Big Announcement
So, I have big news! I was recently offered a promotion at my job. It's bittersweet to leave my current position - I've been in the same department for 7 years. I'm excited for this new department as it will be more demanding, especially heading into the new year. I have to prove myself amongst new peers 😎
With that being said, I'm shutting off requests. What you've submitted and/or has been accepted, I'll still complete. I'm not done converting but need to put my attention and determination to the one who pays me 😅 My queue is still going 3 days a week for the foreseeable future!
I'm not sure how to end this other than saying thank you all for trusting me with your requests! I was hoping for a solid year of open requests, but life handed me a lemonade and I gotta take it!

I stated playing SimCity on the NES when I was about 12, then I didn’t get another one until SimCity 4 when I saw it for PC. I don’t think I knew about the games in between. I was really interested in “The Sims” because we could finally see what the little people were doing. I loved the quirky game play and the level of control we had, it seemed to be a goal that Maxis wanted to give the players more ways to customize the world. I think I like the Sims 2 the best and refused to play TS3 or TS4. To this day I prefer to build cities & houses more than play the characters through their lives. It is too bad that SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow was such a bust.

Now when I try to break a couple up the person I want to stay in the house becomes a townie when the other sim moves out. What the hell? HCD says there are no conflicts. We should use #spaghetti code strikes again! to tag TS2 bugs and weirdness.

So many road replacements...
The Ultimate Road Default Replacement - V2

Sorry couldn’t help myself 😅
Here’s another version of my no-overlay roads - V2!
The textures are more on the semi-realistic side, but turns out it suits a Maxis-match game quite well, just look at the beautiful pictures of my sweet beta-tester, @plumbtales ( ♥ ͜ʖ ♥)!
Just as the first version, this DR will replace all the road tiles plus the sidewalk, the sidewalk with paw footprints, the sidewalk with splashes, asphalt car driveway and the road on the stone and big NH bridges:
This time I also replaced the stone bridge’s texture altogether:
There is an issue though, that to my knowledge comes from NVidia cards settings - grey lines on roads (please click on the image to see better) and I have them with Maxis roads too:
I know there is an anti-aliasing fix, but for some reason it never worked for me. The same issue is with my previous roads too but these ones are darker so it’s more visible.
Roads in Pleasantview:
I wanted this replacement to be as universal as possible so I made it match all NH terrain replacements I could find (there are 26 in total).

Asphalt and sidewalk textures are from textures.com.

Step 2. Download files that correspond to your current lush, desert, dirt and concrete terrain replacements (folders on SFS):

That’s a lot of roads so don’t hesitate to report problems!

Anna’s MM Eyes
I recently started to play TS2 again. Lurking around the internet I came across a conversation from a younger (read:born after the Renaissance), the player was astonished at some of the quality of CC from years ago. It gave me the idea to feature a bit of CC that either has been lost to time, become a staple that newer or younger players might not know about or simply be awesome and deserving of the attention. I take no credit for CC I may re-upload, however I reserve the right to play favorites.
First off: a set of eyes that seems to be harder to find today and even more difficult to find pictures of. They were the basis for dozens of recolor sets of which are popular today. It was An_na on LiveJournal that recolored some eyes By Sims by Sarah and made them iconic. In total there were 19 eye colors, most people only count 18 because the alien eye was only included in the default find and not part of the original custom eye set. the first photo shows the default set.
