Where it all started
So just like everyone else, I have been using shampoo, conditioner, body wash and soap, face wash, body lotion, face lotion, micellar water, deodorant, mascara, eye shadow, eye primer, eye cream, nail polish, blush, bronzer, chap-stick, lipstick and whatever else for a long time. Then in May, I read an article on The New York Times entitled “The Mystery of the Wasting House-Cat” which described how many scientists believe that chemicals found in our houses have been affecting cats and their hormones. As I am a proud cat-lady (well, right now kitten-lady) I was concerned. I went out and purchased organic cleaner for the house after I caught my two little rascals drinking water from the bathtub, and really started looking into the food, treats and toys I was purchasing them.
But then I started thinking, why wasn’t I doing this for myself?
The first thing I thought about was chap-stick. I use chap-stick CONSTANTLY. I went online and researched some different organic chap-sticks, and found a company called SW Basics. I purchased their flight of organic lip balm, and from there I started thinking about the other items that I use every day so that I could switch them out with healthier options.

I haven’t used the cinnamon flavor yet, but the other flavors are really tasty and I also feel like my lips are softer and the lip balm lasts longer on my lips than other non-organic brands.

Hello! Salut! Hola!
Hi all! After reading a few articles online about the effects chemicals can have on the body, I decided to take the (somewhat overwhelming) plunge into organic cosmetics. After talking to a few co-workers, friends and family, they suggested writing a blog on switching up my lifestyle in order to (hopefully) help other people who want to make the change too! :)
