autism things: lonely kid edition
- befriending an object and becoming horribly distraught for days when you lose it
- putting all of your toys in rows and just looking at them instead of playing with them the “right” way
- constant echolalia because there was never anyone around to tell you off for it (until you were at school)
- staring at the wall/ceiling for hours and daydreaming until you forgot who you are

One third of GoFundMe campaigns are for necessary medical expenses.
People are “donating” their vacation days so that a new mom can stay home with her baby.
A college-educated homeless man stood on the street handing out resumes in desperation, begging for a job, any job.
Multiple posts about parents buying teachers necessities like a car and school supplies went viral.
Twitter and the media highlight these stories as heartwarming examples of “sacrifice” and people “pulling themselves up by their bootstraps.”
I call bullshit. Only in a dystopian society would we feel anything other than horrified at the thought of people crowdfunding their most basic needs.

That autistic feel when you’re never sure if you’ve over-explained, under-explained, explained just right, or if no explanation was necessary to begin with. Because so many times, you’ve explained things in a way that was perfectly clear to you, and that the other person swears they understand, but it later turns out that what they understood you to be saying had little or no resemblance to what you intended.
Also, when you’re never quite sure if you understood correctly or misunderstood, because so many times before, you were absolutely certain of your understanding, and acted on that certainty, only to discover that when it comes to communication with allistic people, it can be really hard sometimes to know when to take them literally and when not to.

To all the young Millenials about to watch M*A*S*H for the first time, do not be turned off by Max Klinger being a guy in a dress.
For those of you unaware, the character tries several schemes to get out of the army on the grounds of being mentally unfit for service, most notably being a man who wears a dress, which no one buys. It’s played off as a joke but everyone loves him and treats him very respectfully unless it’s a character you’re not supposed to sympathise with.
You might want to call bull on the fact that they’re getting a cheap joke at a man in a dress. But, this man in a dress had a gender identity crisis ON SCREEN (although they couldn’t call it that) and also helped pave the way to allow transgender people into the armed forces.
No, seriously. A congressman who was a fan of the show brought up how Max Klinger cross dressing never was an issue at this M*A*S*H unit and it allowed transgender people to serve in the armed forces!

The President charges his own Secret Service to use his golf carts.
The Secret Service also had to move out of their floors in Trump Tower because they couldn’t afford the lease.
THE PRESIDENT IS MAKING MONEY OFF OF HIS PRESIDENTIAL SECURITY DETAIL.
THEY ARE REQUIRED BY LAW TO PROTECT HIM AND HE’S CHARGING THEM AT HIS PRIVATE BUSINESSES TO DO SO.
The Secret Service is almost out of money. Trump spent in one year on travel what Obama spent in eight (not to mention profited off of it). They can’t afford to pay people their people to cover Trump’s huge family as they travel for work and go on vacation every week.
This is corruption.
This is unethical.
This is something we should all be mad as Hell about.
