Making a small sound, he looked away as they walked. Smiling a little bit, he returned his attention back to her. “Good,” he responded – he tolerated Nadia and cared about her in a purely platonic way; even if she hated him. As if he had some kind of role in the way her life had turned out. Letting out a breath and gave a nod. “I cannot wait. It has been far too long, Katerina.”
Katherine made her way with him into a little shop. She knew they could find something for their time alone in it. Once they were in she asked others to leave wanting privacy. “While I do love Joel and Alex I want you to myself. I’m just selfish like that.” She told him with a wink. “It has been too long I hope we don’t make a habit out of it. I love my time alone with you.”

These comments from her earned her a sincere laugh. “You have it all planned out,” he said; usually, he would admonish her for such behavior, but it had been quite some time since they’d had anything resembling alone time. Thanks to Nadia, who decided that anytime they were in a room alone together, she had to be in it with them. Unless they were sleeping, then she granted them that one courtesy. “And how far away are they going to be?”
“Well of course I do, Elijah. In a few months time we are going to be so busy that we won’t be able to do nice things like this. I was not going to leave anything to chance we are getting our alone time.” Katherine told him. She smiled, glancing over at him. “Well somewhere far enough away that she cannot change her mind and ruin our fun.”

Her daughter did love intervening at any chance she got – she really did not like him in any sort of way. “You are her mother, you can tell her to leave. At least for the night.”
Katherine smiled and walked down the street looking for somewhere for them to look around. She laughed, looking over at him. “I’m sorry are we talking about the same person? Elijah hadn’t noticed that Katerina had stopped; until he looked to his right and noticed that she was no longer there. Turning around to look, he frowned when he didn’t see her. He couldn’t even pick up her subtle perfume. So this would call for some drastic measures; he knew he would suffer for this one for quite some time. “ELENA IS THE CUTE ONE,” he called out, waiting for her response.
Katherine picked up a shoe and carefully examined it. It was not a fake so it would be a steal- if she would actually pay for them. As she reached for the box she dropped the shoe at his words. She spun around and faced where she heard the voice. “Say it again! I’ll tear out your spine and strangle you with it.”

Taking a day out just the two of them had been the plan.
With two other people and two babies around it was getting
harder to find time alone. They had decided on walking
around the town center a bit. Katherine had every intention
of staying with Elijah until a nice pair of shoes in a store
window caught her eye. Thinking he had followed she
wandered off on her own.
