"No. I don't get sick. Hmph." He pouted and crossed his arms. He was slowly becoming more alert. Slowly, as one ear was still half cocked over. There was another lengthy pause. "I don't usually sleep this long, that is all. Hmph." I'm not sure how long I was asleep either...
He took another long look at him. "You are wary of me." It was a statement, gruff and blunt.

At the extended period of silence, Sonicâs hands began to release each other before wringing themselves together, an attempt to release the nervous energy that had built up. Was this Shadow mute, or not? What was he thinking? He couldnât read this one, he couldnât read this one.
Finally, the hedgehog spoke.
At what he heard, Sonic tilted his head slightly; groggy? He wondered why. Though at the return of the question⌠he knew it was merely out of respect, as generally the question was returned when asked, but his eears still swiveled backwards for a split second.
âIâm fine, hahaha!â He refused to give further details. Instead, he tacked on, âGroggy, eh? Any idea why? Like, sick, orâŚ?â

Shadow jerked his head. Hmph, another Sonic. This one seems nervous, but is asking about my well being. He turned toward him and stared directly into his eyes. I am not the first one he's seen. He reminds me of the...the cuter Sonic, how he used to be. Is it true anxiety? Or is it fear? Fear of another...Shadow? Hmph...
Shadow realized a little too late that he had been staring without speaking at Sonic for some time.
"Hmph," he replied. "I am fine. Somewhat...groggy, hmph." He lessened his gaze. Another pause; it was still difficult to make normal conversation with a Sonic, although his opinions had shifted greatly. "Yourself?"

He stiffened up at the sight of the unfamiliar hedgehog; a Shadow. More of them. Keeping his head ducked, he clasped his hands together, trying to keep himself from wringing them together as he usually did.
ââŚhey there, Shadâ Shadow.â No. He couldnât be casual. Caution first. Judge. Then see what happened. A nervous sigh; play the stammering off as normal. Maybe he was just a Sonic with a speech impediment. Yeah, that worked. âIs⌠are you alright?â

He sighed into the back rubbing, completely at ease. "Hmph, I have been fine," he replied, matching the other's tone. "I have been training and satiating King Shadow's Sonic's desire for company." He paused. "I...have been visiting my own Sonic on occasion. Things are...better between us, hmph." He lifted his head and looked directly into his eyes. "And what of you, big brother?"Â
Shadow chuckled. Hey, he had to admit it â he thought his duplicate could be rather cute. Although his affection didnât extend anywhere beyond friendly, it didnât mean he didnât have any at all.
âYou sound better,â he murmured, rubbing slow circles into the otherâs back. âOther than missing me, how have you been faring while the two of us have been separated?â

"Mmph," was his articulate reply. The scratch behind his ear earned his double a small purr and a sigh, and he too wrapped his arms around the other hedgehog. His pout lessened, into some semblance of a small smile, but it was well hidden in the other's shoulder. Yes, I have missed you. I feel more relaxed, suddenly...it feels somewhat strange...
...yet not unwelcome.

âYes.â Itâs not convincing. He edges forward with a pout, and with a grumble, he rests his head on Shadowâs shoulder. He mumbles something resembling âIâve missed youâ into it.

He encircled his arms around his duplicate, giving him a scratch behind his ear. âAre you feeling better now that Iâm here?â
